There is no reason to freak out. Someone got a response from Myspace: If this is true and pertains to the filtering might I add. AND again for the 1 million time Myspace can't monopolize resources. TOOOOOOOOO MUCHHHHH MONNNNEEYYYYYYYYY

Great news! I sent a message to them a few weeks ago and they e-mailed me back. This is what they said,

"Hello,

That issue is currently being resolved. Please be patient.

Thank you,
MySpace.com

Hooray!

I sent them atleast 15 email from diffrent emails, and got almost the same response everytime:
"That issue is currently being resolved. Please be patient"

Still not solved.. So I think we should all start worry about this and maybe have a comment like that on our site so the people using our resources can paste it into their profiles.

Ok, so Pyzam, hot-lyts, and a few others being filtered
should just sit back and wait for doomsday?
people like you, that sit back and let things happen
are what hamper al social movements.

This is a great idea, myspace is taking all sites down wether small or big.. any site that come into their way, they'll block it. We should all start putting up images like that on our sites specially big sites that get alot of traffic and let myspace users know what's going on, before it's too late.

http://myspace.fingsucks.com/ ;)

I still like this idea (been talked about before).

Regardless what "bugs" may be causing the filtering, it's obvious resource sites are not important to myspace. If somehow the filtering isn't intentional odds are it will be eventually. And even then, there are other things they could do to screw with the resource sites.

Although some of the huge resource sites with millions of pageviews might be able to get myspace to reconsider their own site on a temp basis, many smaller sites probably wouldn't get the time of day. Even if a bunch of sites band together, they might just laugh it off. But if all the sites got their users together to make a stink, it would definitely be heard.

Myspace can take a few different paths. Stay as they have been and let resource sites take part and block them as they see fit. Make their own resource center/app to try to provide the content that the users would want (not likely to work well). Buy out some of the biggest resource sites to use as their official content sites. Or maybe partner, or license "official" resource sites and either take a cut, charge a fee or hand pick the sites they want to work with.

Although we all know myspace is as huge as it is because of the help from resource sites and the unique content, myspace might not think of it that way. Afterall, look at facebook and how fast it is growing without tons of glitters. Sure, a network might be able to build up without that stuff but myspace was build on the cheesy graphics and custom layouts and if they try to take that away now it would probably send much of whats left over to the competition (which could be good anyway cough*myeeos*cough lol.

But for now, it might be a good idea to ask their users to remind them that they enjoy being able to personalize their profiles they way they want with the content they want.

you can email them errors right through the myspace email itself.

I don't think contacting/emailing them will help.. We atleast need to let myspace users know what's happening before all the sites are gone. If they have made that decision, we can't do anything about it. they are the bosses. They don't care about myspace resource sites. They are what they are because of users and if the users don't want the myspace resource sites to go down, myspace will consider that and stop blocking sites.

i'm telling you send a message and get the users to do the same via "report myspace error" from here: http://www.myspace.com/myspacehelp those messages are actually read.

I strongly believe we need to make a stance now before it is too late. People should probably encourage their members to send a comment to TOM. Saying "Please don't block Myspace Resource Sites!"

Everyone is friends with TOm so that will get us a lot of visibility. We need tons of peopel to do this. Sending viral bulletins. Myspace from what I have seen has usually switched thigns back as soon as all it's members are getting pissed. Like the whole photobucket thing. We need people. Thats the ONLY WAY we will get things resolved.

Good but I wouldn't go far as saying fingsucks. There isn't a reason to say things like that but just make everyone aware of what is going on. That is FAR more effective. As soon as someone starts screaming out you, you don't listen you block them out. If we start screaming they will block us out. But if we raise attention and we have their userbase defending us as well then we will do well.

We should all have something on our homepage directing our users to contact myspace to STOP BLOCKING us. Imagine 1 million messages a day asking them to stop. They will want to do something about it.

If you don't explain it to them and get them fired up too, most users just won't take the time to understand and continue on oblivious. If you tell them someone is trying to steal their cookies, they may pay attention.

And yeah, the domain is a bit harsh but good for building hype heheh ;). MyspaceDoesntCare.com just doesn't get the same kind of attention.

I agree that all the sites should have an "important message" on the front page raising awareness. I also think it would be best if it were the same message across the board.

I suck at writing things up. Perhaps someone could type something up so we can all put it.

Do you think Myspace would get pissed if they found out the message was being spammed across the bulletins? Would they delete profiles because of it?

jeremy860
July 25th, 2007, 10:53 AM
Yea I think the staff here at myspacepros should make an important announcement about this and start encouraging some protest too.

NaSh123
July 25th, 2007, 10:57 AM
We need to raise awareness now while we all have traffic and can all use it. People need to let their users know to keep resource sites up. I think Greg should send a mass message just like he did about eeos..about firesale... we need EVERYONE on this. 1 or 2 people WON'T make a difference but 200 webmasters who manage 1-2 million people a day WILL.

Come on guys. We can't lose here, we have to keep fighting. Those sitse that are NOT blocked should be in on this as well.

we need to setup a petition site whoever wants to run it agree to have NO ADS on there. Then other sites can push traffic there to let people know and raise awareness of what myspace is doing. someone can code a script where people can put there names that they will help resoruce sitse or send a bulletin or something you know.

Everyone please note, we don't have time left to waste. We need to take action right now. Scylint registered StopMyspace.org a few seconds ago.

We now need to Make a very simple page, explaining in short simple words what's happening, not long or difficult words because kids wont read. From where users can email/contact myspace easily. Post Bulletins and let their friends know. Today we need to make this page and ask Greg-J to mass PM everyone and we website owners, specially big ones start pushing traffic to this particular page. Then I'm sure we can make something work here.

I have been seriously thinking this is whats going to happen. Why not? They've already got owned by Murdoch of course. How can this get out through media if Murdoch essentially is media. :( Well, I don't think http://stopmyspace.org is copyright infringment. Its not claiming to be myspace or to be a version of myspace. Its neither libel or slander if it is worded correctly and I feel it will be. :) BTW, if this site gets up, I'd def call the local media here about it and inside edition. They FEED off these MySpace stories. I bet GMA would too.

Lets see if they ban me or delete my profile. *sends bullitin*

Ok, so I typed this up and bulletined it. I'll put it here so you can copy and paste it and do the same thing if you're not a pu$$y. :)

<img src="http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j30/yanikeke/STOPM.gif">

Be aware. MySpace is filtering/blocking more and more sites everyday. Sites where YOU get your layouts. They have already been bought, now they may attempt to stop the "profile pimpers" Why would you be on MySpace if you have a plain profile? You could just go over to facebook for that.

Pass this on! To bulletin this yourself, hit "reply to poster" than copy everything, go back one page and paste it into your new bulletin after hittin "post bulletin" Otherwise the image won't show up.

You should also make a petition on petitiononline.com. That way if we get enough signatures, it will make it to the front page of the site. Things get to the front page based on how active the petition is, not how many sigs it has. I just noticed that a petition with 1,363 sigs is on the front page above a petition with 163,000 sigs. So if it gets a lot of traffic, it should hit the front page, at least for a while.
