"Bandwidth usage is unmetered for Pro accounts, however Photobucket reserves the right to disable direct linking on accounts that are using excessive bandwidth or otherwise abusing the system."

Anyone know what they'd define as "excessive"?

I just got a Pro account to see if I could alleviate some pressure on my server by uploading the thumbnails and preview pics of our layouts. In a couple hours it's racked up 1.2gb usage.

Noticed freeweblayouts.net use Photobucket, surely they'd use monsterous amounts of bandwidth?

I think you should be good if you use less than 3000gb/month, they emailed me when i got over 7000bg/month/
"You have used over 7 million mb per month when the average is about 10,000."

sites like fwl generally use multiple Pro accounts to spread out the bandwidth load. if you are using 1.2gb in just a few hours you will probably need multiple Pro accounts

If you cross their limit, to they close the account, or suspend it...?
I'll definitely look into getting several accounts, seems like a great way to save some bandwidth $$$ atm!

Most people I know recieve an email asking them to place a photobucket banner on there site to promote Photobucket once they reach that point. And yeah for only $25 for a year why not grab 4 or 5 accounts

Haha okay, wonder if you'd get away with placing an affiliate banner :innocent:

they'll contact you about it if you have a pro acct so its not a big deal. if your using lot of b/w then your website must be popular and you should be able to work something out with them.

freeweblayouts, myself and many other Big sites have a partnership with Photobucket and have the phone # directly to our rep. Our accounts are FREE and we dont pay $25 a year for any of our accounts. They will contact you if you use alot and if you dont reply they will shut you off.

There are different levels of partnership depending on how many sign-ups you send them.

Sounds good, I think we could send plenty of sign-ups their way.

I tried to work out a deal with them for a free pro account. The lady who sent me an email reply said I would have to post their banner above the fold on my site.

What?

My banner makes over $1k a month. Not gonna do that for a free $25/yr account.

Tried to e-mail them to sort out a partnership, but only got an automated response...

...used 550gb bandwidth from them so far (although we only use it for a few thumbnail and preview images as they won't allow dynamic flash stuff)...

Sent them 8,500 sign ups last month though, but only 1 moved to pro.
Sent 8,500 again so far this month already, but none have moved to pro.

If your site gets no traffic, then yeah it is $25 bucks. But if you are pulling a couple of TB a day or week, then having PB host your images can be worth more than $$$-$$$$/mo.

Once your site gets a decent amount of traffic, you have no other choice but to put their banner up or lose them as an image host. I had my site up less than a month before they contacted me.

You were trying to get a free pro account and your banner is making you 1k a month? Why didnt you just pay the $25?

PGZ, can you elaborate just a bit...What sort of opportunities do they offer?

Thanks
