Updating The Index Page

Hey i was just wondering how important is it to update the index page?
I have been doing it 2-3 times a month with what has been done to the site trying to use good keywords in the process, but would i see better results if i was to do it 5-6 times a week?

Anyone who can help with this topic please give me as much info as possible!

I usually try to stick with the average or even a little higher than what seems to be the norm for the niche. IMO this shows the search engines that the site site provides more updated information than your competitors and should help with rankings
