It seems that external links are now being filtered to msplinks.com which redirects the user to your website. Is this something new or has it been this way awhile??

This is definitely going to kill backlinks from profiles!

thats old news my friend.

but supposedly google still picks it up as a normal link.. we just started a new site, and i searched some of the inbound links, and profiles are coming up in which our link was in the comments section of the profiles...

Google picks it up but since it is a 302 redirect and not a 301 your site gets zero SEO benefits from it

Well doesn't that suck... HTTP/1.1 302 Object Moved, not very SE friendly!

That was set up in mid-April.

Considering the fact that your competitors are saddled with the same disadvantage, this development should have no impact whatsoever.

Check the dates, if the links are in comments. Also - links embedded in user's profiles are not redirected.

There is a way around MSP links though. I'm debating how I should tell people.

Well that's good I suppose it's an attempt to stop spam from gaining backlinks. This just kinda surprised me, I hadn't seen it before. :(

I found one that works that has worked for over a month

But myspace sucks in general. I have noticed that for a lot of my accounts I am unable to post comments. After you post the comment it never shows up. And then sometimes all your privious comments you made are removed. I have an account that made 200 comments to my friends this morning using a program and now the comments no longer show up, but my myspace account isn't banned.

If you want hard links you gotta buy em'. No free lunch.
Myspace hates outgoing links to any domain unless that domain is myspace, fox, or photobucket.

MySpace marketing is dying and continues to die a little everyday. Better off not using it.
