domain value help?

Okay, so I thought of a domain that in my opinion is pretty good. I'm not sure if I would have the time for it though. I might keep it, we'll have to see :)

The domain is msgfx.com - a sort of acronym of 'myspace graphics' you could say.

It's short and easy to remember, but I guess that's all that's special about it - Do you think it could be worth much?

probably not worth much right now, but its an excellent domain to develop into a MS Graphics resource site since its nice and short and people will prolly remember it easier.

^ That's exactly what i was thinking, maybe I should develop the site, make it big and relatively popular and then sell it on sitepoint or something similar? I don't think I'd have time for it in the long run.

My first thought is
"MSG FX"
Message Effects = Something like a message generator, MSN text effects or something, is what the domain made me think of so..yeah. lol

I thought MS graphics right away, because gfx is kinda popular among us little web dorks, hey?

don't think it's worth it though =) maybe msgraphics.com? Most ppl will go 'duhh'' when they think gfx.

I am not a domain appraiser by any means but from what I have learned having my past domains appraised its more than just the name that counts. Here are some things that make a domain "premium"

1. Under 14 letters
2. No hyphens or underscores
3. PR of the domain
4. Number of incoming links the domain has
5. Easy to remember
6. Reflects exactly what the webpage is about
7. Is also a generic search term that recieves over 100k searches per month

I am sure there are probably a few other things as well

I personally dont think that domains that are supposed to make sense, are worth anything. That is so web 1.0 You can have kjkludsoiwe.com and if you seo, promote it, monetize it, then that can be worth anything that you make it.

I would agree on the name part. Personally I think a domains value should be based on traffic and earnings.

It's worth at least the $8 it took to buy it...

I've had a lot of searches on my site for 'myspace gfx'.

I didn't think of 'msg fx' at all when i saw it - but if i had MYSPACE GRAPHICS written all over it then im sure people would get the picture.
