Next fall, when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in 'V formation, think about what science has learned about why they fly that way.
As each bird flaps its wings, it creates uplift for the bird immediately following it.
By flying in a 'V formation, the whole flock can fly at least 71% farther than if each bird flew on its own.
Perhaps people who share a common direction can get where they are going quicker and easier if they cooperate.
When a goose falls out of formation, it feels the resistance of trying to go it alone, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of flying with the flock.
If we have as much sense as a goose, we will work with others who are going the same way as we are.
When the lead goose gets tired, he rotates back in the wing and another goose flies on the point.
It pays to take turns doing hard jobs for our group.
The geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.
Finally, (get this) when a goose weakens or is wounded and falls out of formation, two geese fall out and follow him down to help and protect him.
They stay with him until he is either able to fly or until he is dead, and they then set our on their own or with another formation until they catch up with the group.
If we had the sense of a goose, we would stand by each other like that.

F%^# Fryman, you just don't get it do you.
I do a lot of sports training, mainly for Triathlons. There is a group of us that train together. We do exactly what the geese do, alternate at the front and draught the rest of the time.
Watch the Tour De France cycle race as an excellent example.
It also applies to running and swimming as well.
The benefit is that we can train a lot longer than if we did it on our own and our endurance is significantly enhanced.
I try and take that attitude into all my endeavours, my primary job is sharetrading and again there is a group involved and we are all a lot wealthier because of the shared effort.
The same applies here with our sites and marketing, as a group we are a force to be reckoned with and a group effort would ensure we would all be way better off than if we just keep going it alone.
With the stragity I am trying to put in place my sites will soon overtake Frymans for traffic. With a group effort we could generate 100 x that within a few months.
An example of groups flexing their muscle are the OIL companies and OPEC. Look at the profits they are raking in at the moment because they got together.
A couple of old sayings come in here, "a job shared is a job halved"....."many hands make light work".

Adwords can do great things when you have the money to do so. Change the Keywords and METAs for every page and there you have it.
This is easily done by ANYONE.

I knew PGZ was advertising somewhere, but I figured it was CPM or Adbrite or something...
I've never been game to try adwords for anything... I'll get the courage up one day to risk a few hundred on a campaign

I spend 4 figures a month on Adwords...it was a good investment 18 months ago but now it's priced itself out of the market.
I'm currently spending $3 to make $1. It used to be the other way around.
I'm seriously considering giving it away.
It's strange how the market over time builds to a breakeven point. A lot of people I know have given up on Adwords because the CPC has reached the stage where the return is around the same or less than the cost involved.
I watch stuff. I see competitors coming in and throwing big money to gain #1. They usually last a few days then you never see them again. They lose too much money.
But there is always another new entrant to the arena throwing cash away to try and grab that #1 position. This constantly serves to drive the price up leading to Google being the only one to make any $ out of it.

It all depends on how you work it Cyclops. Yes you can go broke with adwords if used and not optimized correctly. But if done correctly the money is there to be made.
I have used Adbrite and the results were ok but not GREAT. I have also used Kanoodle and they sucked.
Ive used quite a few and it comes down to what you are willing to spend and lose to start with.
Though you may lose money with Adwords in some instances you really arent cause when they use your site you get that thing thats called a link tag which in turn brings new hits to your site. One hit can turn to thousands in weeks or months.
When you think of it in that manner it doesnt seem so bad.
So when its seems as though you are losing in reality you are winning.
Last weekend I turned all advertising off just to see what the sites would do on there own. They still held tight and though the Rev did drop say 30% it was with no effort to make that money.
Look at it in the long haul view and not just a short venture. One day I hope to end my ads and just run on links alone and SE.
Till that day comes I dont mind spending to have a bright future.

I agree there may be longer term benefits but I have tracked the progress in the past and found the effect slowed rapidly after a few days, less than a week.
The main site I use Adwords for is a membership site and I find if they don't join on their first visit they are not inclined to later.
It does depend on what your product is about though.
In the case of Myspace resource sites or any site that relys on Adsense I can't see Adwords working for you, the return per click is just too small.
