I'm interested in getting the paypal debit card but I'm unsure of weather the card debits right from your paypal or if you still have to have the funds already in your bank account. I would love to be able to just run out and buy something without having to wait three days for my money transfer. Also I'm just wondering how others like it overall. is the 1% cashback anything cool or just another marketing roose?

I have it and it comes right out of your paypal account. The people that don't have the 1% back are stupid, your losing free money... So basically, get the 1%, pays instantly when you purchase something.

The debit card is the best thing that ever happened to me. I got it for the exact same reason you did, so that I wouldn't have to wait for the money to transfer. It does pull the money straight from your paypal account, although you need a backup funding source like a credit card or bank account so that if you try to use it and you don't have any money in your account, it uses that backup funding source.
I love it and use it practically every day.

i've had the paypal debit card for years and have yet to use it. its free to use without paypal taking a cut for each transaction right? so if you have 0 in your paypal account but money in your bank account, can you still use the paypal debit?

Do you have to be over 18 to get one? I would like one but I'm obviously not 18 yet. :P

I just got one a month or so ago and it works great. I think its awesome because I got a card for my hubby with his name on it and there was no problems at all to get it. Like the others said, it pulls right from the paypal account with the option of having it come out of your bank if you run out of money in your paypal.

No, you do not have to be 18 but why use a debit card when you can use a credit card and enjoy a better return? Just be responsible...

Paypal are douches.
Care to explain further?
I really would love the debit card, it would make my life so much easier but I'm pretty sure it's not available in Australia as of now. I should send an email to Paypal asking them to make it available :)

im not 18, and i have one, but im afraid to use it, because around here they usually do "id checks" if you use a card like that, so yeah .. do they check ID?
GREGO

sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. they are actually more likely to id you if your using a credit card, since you need a pin for a debit card you don't usually get ID'd but even if you do, its not illegal for someone under 18 to use a debit card..

I got this:
To be eligible for the PayPal Debit card or our Services, you must be
at
least 18 years old and a resident of the United States or one of the
countries listed on the PayPal World-Wide webpage.
I guess I'll have to wait 3 days every time I want to use the money until I'm 18.

what pissed me off about paypal transfer is after about 3 days it said the transfer was complete on my paypal account so I wen't and used my bank debit card. I guess the transfer really wasn't completed cuz I overdrew on my account and had to pay a fee. thats what made me decide to get the paypal debit.

ohh, okay thanks.. but what do you say when they ask for ID?
Show it to them. It's not illegal to have a debit card if you're under 18. It's a debit card, not a credit card. I buy stuff with my debit card all the time, in fact I just did 5 minutes ago.

I always use my multiple debit cards and I'm 15 so its fine. If they ask for id, if you have a concession card then show them that - all 14+ students have to have one here.
I really would like one of these paypal debit cards - do you think it would be best to call them or just email regarding making them available in Aus.?
