We are giving away this very popular widget for free, provided you leave the links in place. Please pm me for the zip. This will not only add stickiness and a fun widget to your site, but it will also generate links back to your site for every myspace user who uses it as well :)
The Donkey Gen has proven to be very popular among the websites we released it to privately. Thanks to nmschris, we now have a msrs and standard myspace versions! The best part about the Donkey Lotto Generator is users can win our prizes even if they are on your site or another person's myspace profile!
Requirements: Must leave link to smoke420.com on your generator page and the link back to donkeylotto.com in the output! There will also be an editible link for your site.

LOL. You know, if you made a gen, urging people to click on your ads, and promising them $500 for every 30,000th click, they'd do it. Stupid emo kids... *sighs*. But yeah, I'm not a big fan of this one.

It's not per 30,000th click We just gave away $1000 on the 25,000th click, donkeylotto.com has been around for a long time and is very popular with the demographic.

This actually looks really cool. I remember when this site first started. Basically it is a free lotto of sorts where users can win all kinds of stuff just by being the lucky click.
Users click the donkey and their click number is recorded. If a user happens to be the lucky click (for example click # 30,000), they win the prize. When this first started I remember it was a frenzy when it got close to the winning click number.
By making this a generator, the click number now updates on every site or myspace page it is on when someone clicks on it as well as their main site if I understand correctly.
I am going to try this out on a few sites. I imagine it will be pretty sticky and bring visitors back once the click number gets closer to the winning click. So instead of just offering the regular old generator, this actually is something where people can win money or prizes by just clicking the donkey. Should be good for the myspace demographic as all these kids are looking for free stuff.
Check your PM's kh, I have a few more specific questions.

Yea this is really cool, especially since the visitors can stay on our sites.
I just got an email back from Kh and the way it works is if your visitor is indeed the lucky click #, the pop-up will say congratulations or whatever, in the pop up will be an email addy with a winning confirmation code.
We can also promote any way we want our sites as if it were our own, as long as we only advertise the specified prizes that the official site is giving away. Also users are only allowed 5 clicks per day per i.p.
nice work kh, any chance you know what some of the future prizes are going to be? Also how are you affording to give away all the free stuff?

I don't get it... so is this thing just an advertisement for that donkey lotto crap? Why would I want to put that on my site??

Fryman, first of all I do not think calling someone’s hard work crap is very professional, but I am not going to get into that I will just answer your question.
DonkeyLotto is a site where prizes are given away constantly which is very costly to do so. They are fronting all of these prizes on their own dime and are now allowing other webmasters to use their contests for personal gain. They are not asking your users to leave your site, they are giving you another widget to add to your site to help create stickyness and emotion which of course results in more hits and more revenue.
The winner of the contest (currently $500, last week they gave away $1000) is given a code to email the donkeylotto guys from the generator…so once again your visitor never needs to leave your site. It is a fun widget to add to your site for your visitors, but even better for you since your visitors will return to where ever you are hosting it over and over again to click (5 clicks a day) which means you can sell advertising next to it, or place some adsense around there. All in all it’s a great widget for all, and I have had nothing but great feedback on it.

Very nice. :)
Thank you very much. And F.Y.I the Donkeylotto homepage is under construction and the pixels will be gone within 24 hours and a whole new web 2.0 interface going on the homepage :) .

I have had nothing but great feedback on it.
Well yeah, if you only listen to the butt kissers...
I still think it is crap. If I wanted to give my users the chance to win something it would be with a contest on my own site, the whole idea of promoting some other site seems totally ridiculous
There, that is my feedback.

You look young in your pics, but by your knowledge in business I'd say around 17. I certainly am not going to sit here and give you an MBA but here are a few examples of companies (that aren't totally ridiculous) promoting another business (or in this case site). Since donkey lotto is not a myspace resource site, it is complimentary to msrs sites and not in competition.
1. Mcdonalds, Burger King, etc - Giving away free toys in happy meals to promote a totally different company (hot wheels, a movie, etc). This is beneficial for both companies because the movie gets promotion on the one hand and on the other kids tell their parents to go to the restaurant with "the coolest toy".
2. Airlines - They give away snacks and beverages that are in most cases given to them free by food companies. This is benefical for both parties because on the one hand customers get a snack if they are hungry or thirsty and on the other hand because the snack companies get their cheap snacks in front of thousands of eyeballs in hopes of future purchases.
Online Example
3. Poker.com - take a look at www.poker.com . They are a poker room themselves and also own carbonpoker.com which you can download from the top. Take a look at the banners on the side however, to pacific poker, poker stars, etc. - even direct competitors are linking to each other these days.
The reason behind this is complex and I won't get into the logistics of it Fryman because a) I don't have time and b) quite frankly it's over your head. I know I mentioned multi billion dollar industries above (but I'm sure in your opinion they are "morons") because "the whole idea of promoting some other site seems totally ridiculous", but it applies to all industries smaller than them.
Cross promoting is going to be huge in 2007.
I'm done giving you tips Fryman because I am only a few spots behind you in the SERPS now and see we are targeting (or at least I am) the same phrases.

Wow nice post KH. Fryman, maybe you make heaps of money on your sites and can afford to front your own $500 for contests. But many of us don't and I think this is a great opportunity to get visitors coming back every day to my sites.
Furthermore the premise of your post is garbage anyways.
the whole idea of promoting some other site seems totally ridiculous
Last time I checked, this is exactly how we make money on an msrs site. (Adsense, YPN, Adbrite). Isn't the whole idea to send your visitors to other sites?
Although this generator may not directly make me money like the measly 3c a click I get on Adsense, if it can build my traffic and backlinks up, I'm all for it. Not too mention the fact that it will keep people coming back daily.
Anyhow, the real reason of this post was to ask you KH if you know what the upcoming prizes are. Thanks and great generator.

Thanks Jeremy,
Here is the answer to your question:
25,000th Click - $1000
30,000th Click - $500
32,500th Click - $100
35,000th Click - $500
40,000th Click - $900
45,000th Click - $1000
By now you should be thinking to yourself that's only $4k right? Well you are correct...we are going to have a $1000 secret click placed in there to be won at any time
Also,
We are looking for contest sponsors where you get advertising all over our site, and on all the generators. Contact me or links@donkeylotto.com and you will be taken care of.

Umm, okay. I honestly it's crappy as well. Not the gen, but it's idea at least? Anyway, no need for a 50 sentence reply to a 5 sentence criticism. Good luck.:hammer:
