heya guys,

I havn't had much luck with selling glitters lately and i know it's because my glitters arn't that great. so i figured i'd make this thread for anyone who wants designer feedback on their glitters/style.

we can start with me, please tell me everything you don't like about these glitters. I know my glitter pattern sucks and I have already discovered a completely new and better way to make the glitter patterns. Is there anything else that sucks though?? Colors? Phrases and sayings? (are they lame?), Fonts and sizes? please tell me everything you don't like and don't be modest, let me have it, it's the only way to get better.

and if anyone else wants to know how others feel about their work, well then post away. :)

hm, sounds like a cool thread.. good idea grego!

hmm, to edit this, and comment about your glitters...

use differnt fonts, basically, they look like all standard fonts.. mix it up
a great site, www.dafont.com
also, maybe a glassy effect? those are nice.. im not sure i like the whole 3d thing, others may though

I personally hate "3d" glitters. And the fills you used aren't that nice either.

They are bit hard to read. Maybe use a glass effect then add a white border to the text then the glitter border? :-) The glitters are a bit big and the font is pretty simple.

I like this one:

Its easier to read and the colors used are nice.

I like the 3d glitters since I dont see much of that, but I dont like the fill that you use. Also maybe get some better fonts.

I'm new to glitters so what do you think of this (http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4794/glitter1ip0.gif).

use more colors.. the text blends in with the picture..

whats a glass effect?
A plug-in for PSP/PS called Artistic Effects makes the text stand out a bit more. :-) Here is an example of it being used here (http://so-kenzie.com/GLITTERS/Whatever/1.gif). It makes the text shiny.

So, I think I could use some c/c as well. Any suggestions? Here is one I made for a group buy: :P

Grego, are you using 2 frames in your glitters? I always think glitters look best using 3-4 frames per image. Other then that, I think others are right on with the font, your glitters do tend to have the same basic font style.. try using some more bubbly, cartoon'ish fonts. You are definatly on the right road, so keep working at it!

mkay...
just scrolling through, I've noticed that you use the word 'your' incorrectly and spell 'aren't' wrong, some of the phrases are corny, the fonts are plain, some are hard to read, and some of the colors clash.

No offense, but I'd say rethink your whole style and use a variety of fonts.

For fonts, try something like Cheri, Thursdoo, Chalk, monafont, etc.
Sizes;;, if the quote is huge, use a smaller size. And if it's like a one word glitter, then I would use a big size. no more than 400px width for my glitters.
Colors;; Use a variety, Either gradients or just patterned

Correct the spelling on some of your graphics and I agree with everyone else you should try some new fonts... and make the sparkles brighter so its more of a glitter than a glow.

I kinda like the look of it, I think of it more as a "polished marble" look than a "glitter" look. It seems to work best for one- and two-word pieces though. Its seems to look chunky-blocky for the big long phrases.

Are these any better?

New Example 1 (http://www.hellagraphics.com/ex/1.gif)

New Example 2 (http://www.hellagraphics.com/ex/2.gif)

Thanks again for all the replys!

Also to Panic.

I like where your going, i just think the clip art should be more visable. :)

Better then the 1st ones you showed. We want something that people will go WOW over and make them want to come to our site when they see it on MySpace.

2nd set look much better.

I like the second one in particular. The color scheme is very nice. I want to use that one myself LOL.

Hmm, the second two look much better than the other. Perhaps try some halftone line effects.. and glass effects either with artistic effects or eyecandy. :) They are very good addons.
Try perhaps.. a little brighter? :)

My opionion

If you have a new way of making glitters than i suggest you make some. Better to get advice on your new style instead of the old style. Your glitters maybe low quality but also look at how many people have bought 1000snds of glitters here. I think most of us are glittered out.

Hope this helps

I like the newest ones. :-) I'm not too sure about the glitter fill, though. It almost looks like a moving grid to me instead of sparkles but the text and clip-art look very nice. :o)

I agree. My need for general glitters is much less. I am still buying but only for categories I'm lacking. Unfortunately, I don't know what all those are until all the group buys are completed.

I like the new glitters.
Have you tried not glittering the whole graphic? Most glitters I see have the entire image glittered. Sometimes less is better. Maybe try glittering the text but not the graphic, or the opposite, or just parts of the graphic.
