Hey Everyone,

I've talked to a few people who have Yahoo Ads (rather than google) on their websites, and most of them tell me they earn DOUBLE the amount that they made on Google Ads...

The Question is, what is the best way to get Yahoo Ads? I know that Yahoo Ads are currently in beta. Also, they always deny applications if you have a MySpace Resource site because they don't offer much content suitable for MySpace Sites...

Most webmasters with Yahoo Ads are partnered with someone. I am willing to Partner with someone to get the Yahoo Ads. Quite Frankly, I'm sick of the low eCPM google offers. The fact that people leave my site on clicking on an ad that only made me 2 cents really irritates the hell out of me.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Depending in the level of traffic and income you receive, I would be willing to speak with you regarding running my YPN account on your site.

PM me if you like.

The last time I checked, this was against the TOS.

Maybe I am wrong though.

You should optimize your pages. Just adding a short description of images displayed in your offerings is all it takes. For instance, if you add one line of descriptive text on your page that says "this layout contains an image of a cute teddy bear holding a bouquet of flowers", that might be all it takes to get G to serve up ads for gift items, flower delivery, and similar ads that pay a heck of a lot more than 2 cents per click.

Drop me a note as well. Got a couple buds who work at Y!. I'm not 100% sure if I can get you in but I'll try to get as many people in as possible. Also, note Greg as well. Between the 2 of us. We'll do what we can.

I used to have a YPN account but they killed it do to "low quality traffic" like they do most sites. I dont have any of those sites anymore I have 2 new ones though that I would like to be able to run YPN on again one gets like 1k uniques per day and the other one my MSLS site gets like 400+ uniques per day........

Yup YPN pays alot more than G when I was running YPN ads on my site I was getting like 7 clicks per 1k impressions but those 7 click paid $3 - $4 I dont even make that with 100+ clicks from G

I've tried to get into YPN for like 8 months now. Denied multiple times with various sites and now they don't even seem to even reply to deny me anymore lol. If anyone has some contacts, like happy suggested, I would appreciate any help at all ;).

I have been running YPN on my myspace site for almost a year now. Only problem I ever had was they emailed me and said to remove the images from my ads.

otherwise, i most of the time get around $0.80 per click.

I tested adsense 1 day and got like $0.01 per click. LOL

Switching from YPN to AdSense would be a sobering experience to say the least.

Tell me about it since I have had to switch because of YPN dropping me now all 3 of my sites combined make as much per day (with 5x the clicks) as just one site did alone when I had YPN.......

I have a YPN account but I don't run it. With Adsense, my eCPM is around $.60c -- what's yours with YPN?

its risky to put ypn on myspace sites, they're banning so many ppl for bad traffic

Seems like many of the people getting banned had bought their invites/accounts.

I have been running YPN on my site since the beginning. I do have one of the earliest accounts though if that has anything to do with it. (Invited by yahoo themselves in september 2005)

I don't think Yahoo has an understanding of how Internet advertising works...they clearly didn't at the beginning when they actually REMOVED the money earned from unpaid Yahoo accounts if they thought the traffic quality was too low. They didn't cancel your account; they just said, "Let us take away 300 dollars from you, but you can keep the rest." Can you imagine Google doing something that frivolous? And it was deemed low quality simply because it came from myspace. It didn't matter if you had a myspace resource site; just the fact that your traffic came from myspace made it bad. How stupid was Yahoo not to realize that people would use Myspace to promote their website? It's like the 4rth or 5th most visited website in the world. There was a serious problem with the thinking capacity of Yahoo at the beginning, and now they are trying to micromanage people's YPN sites, which doesn't work. Yahoo still doesn't know what the hell it's doing, and for such a big corporation, it's sort of sad that their advertising business plan is so patchy.

The reason they dont have a good understanding of marketing or the internet is because Yahoo's current CEO is a former hollywood producer and even admits that he is not really that tech savy and knows little about computers or the internet......But for some reason the boad members at Yahoo refuse to give him the boot after almost 10 years of failures.......

YPN isn't ALL THAT anymore... Unless you clearly violate TOS by tricking your users into clicking the poorly targeted ads, you will only see about .1% CTR and the rev isn't nearly what it used to be.

Put it this way, I used to get $xx,xxx YPN checks last summer, these days I'm lucky to hit 33% of that! Good thing I didn't go out and buy that 911 I've always wanted.

I actually see a better CPM from my MSRS site using adsense.

I would agree the targeting sucks like know other I think my best day was achieving a 1.5 CTR most days I hovered around a .6 CTR but the ads paid like $1.50 - $3 a click

I am in the same boat. I am in canada so cant get yahoo but would be itnerested to see how much more it makes.. I'm getting about 80 clicks a day at the moment with adsense. Hell even 7 - 10 cents a click would be an improvement.

Anyone care to share a YPN account for a fee. I might be interested. PM me.

What YPN ad category is best for CPC & CTR?

Chili
March 10th, 2007, 11:21 AM
I've tried every single category and they all suck, but I'm sure I've been smart priced, so I can't make more than 50 cents or so per click. Try credit cards, they were doing well for me at some point, and I don't think its inappropriate because high school and college kids need credit cards don't they?

I would say the financial ads pay out the most which is around 1.00 per click, but they are ofcourse not relevant to the myspace audience... education ads do fairly well, and they are probably the closest thing to properly targeted ads yahoo offers

My YPN account for my site was terminated in mid February for traffic quality, even after two separate reviews I requested of my site, content, ad placement, targeting, etc. -- both times I got the green light from them about my performance. Plus the one time I accidentally clicked on my own ad, I was on the phone with them to report it.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. My question for everyone is, do you know of any possible ways to get an account reinstated? If not, is there a way to use a different YPN account on the above site, or would they just get terminated as well? I wasn't sure if YPN keeps track of that sort of thing. I haven't tested for fear of having another account terminated. Any light anyone could shed would be super helpful.

I'd love to find a way to give it another go, only with geo targeting and some other measures. I'm getting 20k unique visitors/day, and stuck with Adsense (major suck fest).

imo ypn blows monkey anus chunks. Sure cpc is decent for certian cat's but overall its a complete joke. I have tried to target various niches for a few of my sites and they still displayed the wrong ads.

I have a cell phone related site that displays mazda and other non related items even though I have targetting on. I am no expert with this stuff but I do know that YPN isnt catching G anytime soon. Beta for almost 2 years? give me a break!

rant over.. ;)

YPN recently changed their TOS. The notable change was that only 3 ad units per page are allowed unless special permission is given in advance. Same ad limit per page as Adsense now.

On average YPN! pays way more than Google. I haven't analyzed numbers, but just the other day YPN! made me 4x what AdSense made me.

You have to be careful though. Lots of MySpace site owners have gotten the boot for low quality traffic.

YPN is def. headed downhill. What kind of a weird policy is this anyway? Telling people they can only have 3 ads unless they get special permission to have more...WTF? And how do they decide if a site is "worthy" enough to have more than 3 ads? Yahoo really doesn't know what it's doing..

Hey I'm developing a site for a school art department and was wondering if I submitted that site even though it wouldn't have any traffic if I'd get accepted just so I could put YPN on my myspace site? That sounds like a really dumb question to me since it wouldn't have any traffic but eh why not.

imho, i wouldnt do it. if and when they find out that you bait & switched 'em they'll pull the plug, not pay you anything, demand any money they paid you back and your name/ssn will be firewalled from ypn forever. best way is to just submit your ms site and let the chips fall where they may.
