Hello all

I was wondering if I could make a suggestion about group buys.

There are a lot of sales in the market place at present, for high numbers of glitters, layouts etc (multiples of 100). The designers need time to make these, but the waiting time to receive them can be lengthy.

I understand that the designers need to ensure that they recoup money for their work, but I wondered whether the products could be advertised when 50% or more are complete.

E.g - offer 400 glitters of mixed categories - 200 done now...200 in two weeks

What do you think? Is the current method used as designers need to gauge interest?

I'm only new here and I've been thinking of doing one but I would prefer to offer it knowing that it is complete or at least 90% complete before advertising for it :)

only as I wouldnt want people to be worried that I am unable to live up to my end of the deal or be waiting a long time for the finished products especially if its in mass quantities.

but then thats how I would go about it :)

I agree with you to an extent.
I think you should only have to have about 50% of it complete if you think it's going to take a long time. I know about 3 sellers on here who are able to complete their group buys for LARGE (Yes, mulitples of 100's!) number of graphics, in a very short time period - as small as 1 week.

However, there are a couple others (and no, not just one. A COUPLE!) who take quite awhile to complete the orders. So, in cases like this - I think you should have atleast 50% complete. (When you know it's going to take awhile to complete)

I, myself, started my group buy with NOTHING started. I didn't start making the graphics until about 3-4 days before the sign-ups ended. Yes, i'm already about 40% done. I am really hoping to have atleast the first 50% done within 5-7 days of signup's ending - just because I know how horrible and long the wait can seem. You are just itching for this new content.

HM... I've been up for a good 40+ hours straight (Sleeping disorder, don't ask lol) so I may be rambling. If so, do forgive me - please. :)

I know if I was producing content I would prefer to have it pretty much ready before announcing it for sale. However, different types of content take varied amounts of time.

My problem is that money burns a whole in my pocket , when it comes to buying content ;)

I think that's pretty much up to the person doing the group buy. Personally, I don't work well with deadlines, so I'd have to make the stuff first and then announce it.

I agree. I'd have done that with my own group buy, had my original post when i first joined not turned into my original group buy. I don't like group buys personally. You are better off just making a pack of layouts and selling it for 50 bucks per person and you can make more or less than what you want. If I had done a 200 layout pack for 50 dollars per person, and sold it to 20 individual people, I'm sure there'd have been a lot less confusion and hassle than I caused myself.

After my current group buy is done, I am done with them forever. They are more hassle than they are worth for me. As it is I had a few select people who signed up for my group buy who didn't follow through with wanting the content, so in the end I was short changed a good hundred bucks. I'm not worried about it now since I'm still going through with the buy and have more than enough compensation for the work I'm doing, but really its way more hassle than I like to deal with and I prefer to just deal with a straightforward sale of completed layouts. I'd be doing a lot more of those right now if I didn't have this group buy hanging over my head.
