MySpace Application Script

It has been really hard to know that MSAS has been sitting here done for the past 6 months waiting for the infrastructure to be in place to release it, so we're ecstatic to announce the release of MySpace Application Script, or MSAS as we refer to it. MSAS is the ultimate tool to set up any kind of content/resource site and specifically tailored for social networking resource sites. Explicitly myspace.com. MSAS was specifically designed to make setting up and managing a resource site a simple process but truth-be-told, the possibilities of what types of sites you can set up is much greater. With the addition of the Myspace app module in MSAS Complete, the potential is huge. Here's a short list of the kinds of sites I might set up with MSAS:

MySpace Resource Site

comments
layouts (1.0, 2.0 and 1.0 to 2.0 auto-conversion)
music skins
network banners
backgrounds
contact tables
music videos
etc.

Video site (what about a site with the latest movie trailers with a myspace app that delivered the newest, and highest rated movie trailers to your myspacers home page? Include affiliate links for purchasing tickets, Netflix, ???)
Desktop wallpaper site
Blog
Portfolio
Business Site
... pretty much any kind of content-centric site you can imagine.

With all those possibilities in mind, let's focus on what MSAS can do for your myspace site.

Content Types
What can MSAS do out of the gate?

MySpace Layouts (yes, we support profile 2.0 conversion)
MSAS utilizes the same profile 1.0 layouts that both MSRS and MSLS support (either format is able to be imported). With the (unfortunate) advent of profile 2.0 however, we have endowed MSAS with the ability to convert older profile 1.0 to profile 2.0 code. Don't worry though, if you add a layout as profile 2.0 code, MSAS won't touch it. In short: MSAS turns all your profile 1.0 layouts into 2.0 layouts and gives you the ability to add 2.0 layouts as well.

Graphics
MSAS handles any kind of image-based content. Whether it be comments, glitters, wallpapers, music skins or just backgrounds MSAS can handle it.

Videos
MSAS includes special consideration for video content and includes the commercially licensed FLV Player.

Other types of content...
As with msls, MSAS gives you the ability to add any kind of content you want. We have also included the ability to place content pages into categories to make organizing and display custom content types much easier.

Special Features
How does MSAS make running my resource site easier?

Advanced template handling
This one is the most exciting on to us, and perhaps just because we're control freaks. When you create a new category in MSAS you get to define everything about it, naturally, but you also get to tell it what templates in your template directory to use. So while images in one category may be comment images, images in a new category could be music skins. They're both image-based content, but they're represented completely differently. MSAS allows you to have custom templates for any category of any content type. It's probably the simplest, yet one of the most powerful features of MSAS.

Photobucket integration (taking care of your traffic so you don't need to)
msls included support for offsite image hosting for layouts, MSAS does that as well. MSAS goes a giant leap further for image content though. Save your photobucket account info in the admin panel and when you import your images, you can check the mirror on photobucket option. MSAS will automatically FTP your newly added images to your photobucket account and forward incoming requests to your now offsite copies. All your back-links, none of your traffic. All with the click of a button.

Unlimited nested categories (combine category types)
The biggest complaint with msls was that there were no sub-categories. We listened. MSAS allows you to create an unlimited number of nested categories in 5 different category types:

Layouts (contains myspace layouts)
Images (contains any kind of image-based content)
Videos (contains video content)
Content (contains special content items)
Sub Category (contains sub categories)

The easiest way to describe this is that you can have a category called NBA, and have all your NBA related content in that category. Layouts, images, videos, contact tables, video skins, etc. Pretty cool stuff.

META control (super SEO)
We've taken the idea behind allowing you complete control over your SEO to a new level in MSAS. First, you can choose your rewritten url seperator. You're no longer tied to using the inferior underscore (_). Google has repeatedly told us that the hyphen (-) and plus sign (+) are much better options than the underscore. We listened. You benefit. You also have complete control over the meta information for each category and each piece of content. Get the contextual advertising you want.

MSLS Plus
MSAS supports everything msls did as it uses msls as its core. So all the ad, link, content, etc. management is all built into MSAS.

Gigya Integration
Gigya has been giving you Wildfire for free for a long time now. You would expect them to want something in return, but they don't. Quite the opposite. Gigya wants to give you the opportunity to make more money with your resource site and has partnered with us to do just that. Gigya is now integrated into MSAS and signup is a snap. It now actually pays you to give your users the ability to auto-post. Some of you already have contracts with Gigya for this. If you do, you're all set. If you don't, don't worry. Sign up is a snap.

MSAS Complete
More goodies. Twice the online presence. 1/3 the cost of our original script. Plus some other stuff too :)

Thank Gigya
Gigya was a huge part of this release. They stepped in and said "We want to give people the option to have more of a presence online with their resource, here's how". Their idea: Include an option in MSAS to let you, the site administrator, to set up a myspace application to promote your site. What we came up with is pretty impressive.

Your site on myspace.
What if your users could get all your content without ever leaving myspace? What if they could see what the newest, hottest and most downloaded content you had to offer was every day just by logging in to their myspace account? What if all of that content was just one click away? These are the questions we asked ourselves when developing the myspace application module. With MSAS Complete you get everything you need to set up your myspace application. Your myspace application comes with 3 levels of promotion. When a user installs your myspace app, this is what they get:

The Canvas App is basically your entire site viewed through an iframe on myspace's site. MSAS knows when it is being viewed through myspace and uses a special template (100% customizable of course) to display that content. It's like having a copy of your site on myspace and you get to display it in a special way.
The Home App is a button installed on the myspacer's home page that gives them one-click access to your Canvas App.
The Profile App is the coolest. It puts a tabbed leaderboard on their profile that shows your hottest content.
Auto-posting myspace intended. Not the kind of auto-posting you get in trouble for. The kind of auto-posting that uses the MySpace API and allows your users to post content to their profile without even having to log in! If a myspacer is using your app and wants a layout, click. Installed. Done.

Flash Goodies
We got our hands on several custom-built and unbranded flash toys you don't have and included them in MSAS Complete. How do we know you don't have them? They were built specifically for a member of these forums and we tied that person up by their feet until they agreed to let us distribute them with MSAS Complete. Mission accomplished.

Support
MSAS Complete comes with 3 months of support 5 days a week with a guaranteed ticket response time of 12 hours. (Although during initial launch we can only guarantee a 24 hour response). Most of the time you'll get a solution an hour or two. We have to make this rule just in case. There is a ticket support section for MSAS Owners here on the forum.

SECURE CHECKOUT

I have a question.
We know you have some questions. Let's answer the obvious ones here.

How do I upgrade?

Log in to https://authenticate.myspacepros.com (with your old buildrevenues.com/store information) and decide which license you want to upgrade. Write down your License ID.
Order (http://authenticate.myspacepros.com/order.php?cmd=products/list&group_id=1) the version you wish to upgrade to. Complete the checkout process and log in using your old buildrevenues.com/store account. Go all the way to PayPal and do not pay.
Send an email with your MSP username, authenticate.myspacepros.com username, License ID, new Invoice ID and any other relevant information to myspaceproshelp (at) gmail (dot) com. We will adjust your invoice and respond accordingly.

My license is from Script Hippo. I never had it added to my buildrevenues account. How do I upgrade?
We repeatedly sent out emails when MSLS was released both here on the forum, and to the paypal email address you purchased MSRS with that we had moved licensing systems and we needed to add them to the new licensing system. If you did not respond to that inquiry then, there's not a lot we can do now. However, if you want to plead your case we're willing to listen. Email myspaceproshelp (at) gmail (dot) com with any all relevant info that you feel will help us track down your license.

What's with the MSAS Basic & MSAS Complete and why do we not get Complete for free?
MSP started out as Greg supporting a few dozen people and offering great support. It was financially possible. It has become very apparent that offering free upgrades and support for life to a product that has grown this much in popularity simply isn't financially possible. Our support staff needs to paid for ongoing development and support and like every other software developer, we have to charge for that. We are offering a very powerful resource site script that is far superior to both MSAS and MSRS for free. If you want the features, upgrades and support that MSAS Complete offers we're giving it to you for over 50% off just for being our customer. We think that's pretty cool.

If I choose to upgrade, can I keep my MSRS or MSLS license?
Upgrading from MSRS or MSLS is very simple, but we understand it's a huge chore. If you're upgrading to MSAS Basic, it needs to replace one of your existing licenses. If you're upgrading to MSAS Complete we're basically giving you a copy for half price just for being a customer of ours. Use it on your existing site or put it on a new site. It's your call. And yes, we'll be watching for people trying to cheat the system.

Is it easy to import content from MSLS and MSRS into MSAS?
It's easy to import content period. So yes, yes it is.

Can I import my content from another script?
Like we said, it's easy to import content period. We're assuming other scripts use the myspace layout formats we created, so of course!

Will my URL's stay the same?
It depends on what script you're coming from. You have quite a bit of control over your URL/URI structure so I would say that for the most part, the answer is yes!.

I still have a question I don't see an answer for. How do I get it answered?
Email us at myspaceproshelp (at) gmail (dot) com and we'll get back to you as fast as humanly possible.

People are going to want to know why this thread isn't open for discussion.

If you have any questions or comments, email us at myspaceproshelp (at) gmail (dot) com. We don't want to spread ourselves too thin by including "check the release thread ever 5 minutes for questions or comments".

I'd like to post some figures for you all to mull over as well.

For obvious demo purposes we had to publish acopy of the myspace app (we called it Leaderboard (http://www.myspace.com/399014132)). We only posted the default included content and never promoted it anywhere. No customizations, just the default stuff. Within 3 days we had over 2,500 installs. This was several weeks ago. We still have over 2,300 users even though we have never updated the app with any new content.

That's kind of meaningless until we explain what that equates to as far as money in your pocket though, right?

The only ads we're displaying on that install are a few AdSense ads. 3 exactly.

Day 1: $18.64
Day 2: $28.03
Day 3: $12.66
Day 4: $17.62

The best part? CTR is double digits.

For those adding, that's $75 in the first 4 days. Things died off after that (the app moved off the newest apps list) and from March 7th until the end of the month, that app did $104 in revenue. AdSense only. No promotion. No content. No customizations. Had we purchased it for full price, we would have made back our investment in under 3 weeks just by uploading and installing MSAS.

What could MSAS Complete do for your site?

A couple questions answered

I recently had to delete a trolling post regarding MSAS. Although post itself was incendiary, it asked some important questions about how complete MSAS is because there are sections of the admin panel that do not contain any content as well as broken links.

If you look at the admin screenshots (2 posts up) you will see links for Get Content and Traffic Exchange. These links take you to pages that get info from our domain. Get Content will take you to a customized version of the Marketplace here on MSP while Traffic Exchange will be a gateway to our upcoming traffic exchange. I suppose the question should then be "Why include the links if it doesn't exist yet?" The answer is that this way we can launch those two services without you having to update your site.

There are also broken links in the admin section. Next to most options there is a little question-mark image. It is a link that goes nowhere. In future versions it will open a popup with information regarding a specific option, but for now we don't really know what information people want or need. That's something that can only be gained by experience.

So while the original poster simply wanted to troll and complain about "broken features", we're simply including parts of future versions of the script early on. The script itself however is quite complete. What the OP is complaining about (who isn't even a license holder) are placeholders...
