hey guys,
I've noticed that many transparent glitters (including my own) get that really annoying choppy edge effect when you put them on a dark background. I have also noticed that some glitters don't do this and I was wondering if anyone knows how to save transparent gifs with no nasty edges. I know you can save as a png but I really would like to avoid that.

If you're using photoshop make sure you're using the "save for web" function when saving the final gif file instead of "save as"

saving as a transparent png only works in IE, right?
You can add about a 2px white or black outline, that makes it look much better.

You mean Firefox? They don't seem to work in IE.

Hmmm, I've never had this problem!
However, I use PaintShopPro at the moment and I think coz I add a dark silver border round em they just look good on all backgrounds.
However, some people add a 1PX white outline round the glitters to make it look better on black bgs...So I dunno you can never get em perfect on all bgs but mine generally look smoth edged and neat...

yeah, I meant that they don't work in IE, plus there isn't a way to animate pngs to my knowledge so it wouldn't work for glitters.

There isn't a way to animate png's, at least none that I know of.
It really depends on what you're using for the border, and if you're using a glitter fill for the border, which fill you use...

I still get the pixelated edge regardless of saving the gif with "save for web"

Then the images must be pixelated to begin with if that is happening..
