Can't change "Online Now" icon

I have tried ones from here (http://www.getonmyspace.com/Generators/Online_Now/), and many other places, and no matter what I do, the icon never changes, it is always the ugly orange and green. (I do have a whole theme I was working on, but I took that out, so I could just focus on the "Online Now" icon)

Firefox 2.0 on Linux if it makes any difference.


I added this code

And it does slap it's funky little ad on my page, but it does not change the online now icon at all.

I am having the exact same problem and I am using IE7. I have a 'ready-made' layout from Skem9.com. I am trying just to change the online icon to this:

I have tried several different sites and none are working. Just like you said (reality), I will get the name of the website plastered on my screen, but the icon is still the same old regular one.

Also, if someone can get this code to work, could you also tell me what part/s of the code I don't need?

Yep they changed something cause none of mine are working now.

Probably a good thing to change this, because when you use custom ones, they show up even if your offline which defeats the whole purpose of the "online now icon"

I think I did manage to do that while trying to make it work again, but I messed up the code so would have to find a way to do it again

Yeah, none of the online nows are showing up anymore. It's been like that for 2 weeks now. If someone has a new code to get them working please post it.

Argh, i have 250+ layouts on my site, i have to go through ALL the codes and change them. :(
