Hey,

Been working on my layout design skills lately and have got to the point of producing what I would believe considered high quality myspace layouts.

Im firstly designing them to eventually populate my new MSLS script with exclusive, unique high quality content.

Secondly, I am hoping to create some packs or sell individual exclusive layouts.

So before I create a thread in the marketplace or begin selling was wondering what you all would price my layouts at?

Currently I am hoping to work with these prices:
- An order of less than 50 layouts = $15 per layout.
- An order of 50 to 100 layouts = $12.5 per layout.
- An order of 100 or more layouts = $10 per layout.

I got these pricings from peoples evaluations of 'myspacestop' quality and various threads on these boards.

I dont want to go quoting people the above prices if their ridiculous, equally dont want to quote $2 a layout if thats what their worth as I wont waste my time.

Some examples:
SpongeBob (http://layoutcow.com/Cartoons/SpongeBob_SquarePants.html?preview=)
Green Day (http://layoutcow.com/Rock_Bands/Green_Day.html?preview=)
Take My Emo Heart (http://layoutcow.com/Emo/Take_My_Emo_Heart.html?preview=)

Look forward to your thoughts an opinions on pricing/quality.

Regards,
Dean

I like the designs Dean.

I think the price would alse depend upon whether or not you plan to sell individual packs to people (custom) or sell multiple copies of the same layouts.

I think the $2 a layout is fine if you sell lots of copies, but you can certainly increase your prices for custom work.

I found out last year the hard way that blocking myspaceads is against myspace TOS - so if your layouts do that, Id reccomend changing it haha.

Also, Those are expensive prices.
Id max. at 12$ per UNIQUE (meaning only used on ONE site) layout.

Yeah the prices were for unique .. perhaps 12 might be better. Any other thoughts?

No offense but those aren't near MSS/FWL quality and so $12 is way too high. I'd say around $3-4 each right now until you improve.

None taken, everyone has their opinion.

Personally, I think the Green Day one is equally as good as the Rock Band layouts on MSS? Dont you agree? This is how I was comparing quality.

i would say they are close and do match the quality of some MSS layouts but if you compare really good ones on MSS then your not there yet.

im workin on matchin MSS's quality too but believe it aint easy, takes me about an hr to make one layout :(

Yeah.. I forgot to mention that one was good; I was talking about the other two.

You seem to have gotten the 'style' down pretty good though, so you are pretty close :)

the greenday one is the best, nice work!

what are you using for your effect in the network banner?

EDIT: as far as pricing I would go $10 per layout for now until you have reached your peak in layout designing.

I think those are quite good - maybe $8-10 USD each? It took me a lot of negotiating to get $10+ a layout with my current clients...those are quite good though, really like the animated banner of the greenday layout.

Not bad. Seen better, but I've seen worse as well... ;)
As far as pricing goes...$3-$7. Good luck.

Honestly I like your layouts better than myspace stop's. Your layouts are more organized, Symmetrical, Clean.

They use oversized graphics and animated network banners (which i am not big on) But nevertheless it doesnt matter what I visually feel is appealing. The person that matters is the visitor. So maybe the visitor likes this sort of thing.

As far as the price goes i would say that its prob a bit on the high side. I dont think any myspace layouts should cost $15, but again thats just me. And I guess there are people out there that are paying it. If I wasnt a designer myself i would pay prob $8-$10 for HQ layouts. (Which yours are)

those are nice layouts but I don't think you could get 12$ a piece for them.

Thanks everyone, I think the overall idea is that the prices are slightly too high. Which is exactly the point of the thread :)

Anymore and all comments are welcome.

well after a few hours work, here is my attempt at a animated eminem layout.

uffda, that was a job.
http://www.myspacegeek.net/graphics/layouts/browse/preview/eminem-myspace-layout-dark.html

notice I had to compress the hell out of it to make the images under 200kb

^ No less than $10 for quality like that one.

For great quality, don't let anyone cheat you, if they want good quality they gotta pay for it. In the end they benefit more from it, so no, asking for 10+ for custom layouts is not too expensive at all...unless you are selling to multiple people, then the price should drop.

my taste is fickle like yours, but i've noticed most people don't really care... i mean, half of the people that use my layouts already have their profile's stretched by giant images they put in their about me... etc.

these are nice layouts. Clean, high quality images...and you don't just cut and paste the same pic for all the different images. Plus the coding doesn't look sloppy. I'd say $10 per is good. Good luck with your sales.

^ I can't stand that, when ppl use 600 images that are HUGE all over their profile.

I like my profile neat :P

I agree. I have found making the higher quality layouts is way more time consuming so me being the buyer usually, I would refuse to pay anything less than $10

heres my attempt at >>spongebob square pants (http://www.myspacegeek.net/graphics/layouts/browse/preview/spongebob-myspace-layout.html)<<
