I've seen some discussion of Profile 2.0 launching earlier than expected, but it seems to be official. Profile 2.0 will - from what I'm being told - launch tomorrow. A conversion script is being built right now and I should have it in my inbox tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest. At which time I will add it to MSRS and MSLS and release patches immediately. With MSAS, it'll obviously be put in.
What's the hold up with MSAS you ask?
A couple things in conjunction. The site is being moved to a much larger server cluster. There are several reasons for this, but one big reason has to do with the banner and link exchange and the fact that the server MSP sits on right now would fail miserably if launched. What's that have to do with MSAS? The licensing software for MSAS calls back to the server by hostname and IP. The site moves, the IP changes. Launching before the site moves will guarantee that every MSAS site set up before then will go offline until you download the updated MSAS functions file. It's really that simple. The cluster was expected to be up the middle of last week, but it's looking more like the middle of next week right now. Unfortunately, this is the reality when the team of people behind a project are spread evenly around the world. I've learned to just take it as it is and not expect things to happen in the time frame I initially expected.
