Dear Publisher,
After a recent review of your site, we would like to include shimmeringgraphix.com in our custom placement packs program. Custom placement packs are selections of individually-reviewed sites designed for our largest brand advertisers.
We would like to feature your site more frequently in these advertiser packages, but to do so, we need you to place more image and text-enabled medium rectangle ad units (300x250) on your site. Visit https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats to see a sample of the medium rectangle unit.
The medium rectangle is the most demanded size among our brand advertisers that utilize these packages for both text and image ads. These advertisers want to ensure they reach visitors on high quality sites like yours, and are willing to bid more for ads prominently displayed on these sites. They require that the units be placed "above the fold" on a page so that the ads are immediately visible to your site's visitors without scrolling down.
If you decide to add medium rectangle units to your site, please notify us by replying to this email so that we can begin featuring your site in more of our advertiser packages.
We also recommend you use the newly launched ad placements feature to define your ad slots to advertisers so they can bid on specific placements on your site. For instructions on how to create ad placements, please visit https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=50691 .
Sincerely,
Geoff Vitt

Basically I'm thinking I would benefit from this,correct? By having my site featured in more advertising packages would mean more money on my behalf, right?

I'm guessing it's a new promotion of Google flash ads they are hoping to display to your particular site demographic and they need the 300x250 box to meet the advertisers requirements.

It's all good actually ..... Google are gearing up for Video ads and are getting people to place the right size ad blocks on their sites.
Video ads will have much higher payouts as well.
I was reading about it a couple of days ago but can't remember where.
Video advertising is the way of the future, I have been looking to become an affiliate to networks that use video but there aren't many around ...... yet.

Valueclick uses video ads, CPM is huge, $12 for one ad, $7 for another two. I haven't started using them yet though, not enough ads to fill demand. Plus I think they only work as before/after your own videos.
Don't Google already use video ads?

Yes they do but they don't have a lot at the moment. They are pushing hard to build up the quantity.

Thats what I meant, the networks that do have them don't have many and none are really suitable for my sites.
Their are a couple of networks that are going to specialise in using Video. I have been waiting for about 6 months for one of them to get started but it's slow going. In another 12 months I think their will be hundreds of video ads to choose from.

I searched to try and find the article you read or one similar, I haven't so far although I did come accross an interesting point.
if AdSense did offer rich media to all publishers, they could easily add a new clause that would mean companies such as Fastclick and PointRoll would suddenly be competitive ads and not be permitted on the same pages as AdSense
That's not so good for all of us who use other network banners... it isn't a rule yet, but if it did become one, it wouldn't be great. Unless Google beat the eCPM of our current advertisers.

When I saw the $12CPM I was exicted at first but yeah ValueClicks video ads are preroll or postroll your own videos.
If you already have a bunch of the medium ads I wonder if they may sent you some of the new video ads eventhough they didn't email you??

I seen this on DP with a member that had no myspace related sites and have done it to one of my own sites. So far revenue increased 20 - 25% the first day and has held steady.

Was your revenue increase on a resource site or a different site?

Google video ads (premium publisher ads). Are beyond amazing. As long as you get what you're looking for. After all, they usually turn into year(s) contracts and they have to stay in one place. Worth it.

I'm not sure if they're only- but I did think you had to be opted in- and if you're sites doing well, you're presented with a contract. It's a good thing.

Sorry for the double post!
"The official list published on the AdSense site includes these features for premium publishers:
* Google sales representative and account manager
* Flexible ad formats
* Advanced filtering
* Optimization assistance
* Additional monetization options
* Enhanced technical support "
My google rep was the one who offered the contract- I'm only assuming the contract deal goes for premium publishers- so if you're not one, I'd opt in for the spot they are offering, then one day you'll get a call :D. But if you've already got a rep, be prepared for a contract deal.

Yes but what exactly do you have to do to become a Premium publisher for adsense.

Honestly, that I don't know- I just believe (IMO) that your site has to have substantial traffic and reach; but I'm not positive. That's how I think it happened for my site...Didn't do anything special so.

You are a premium publisher?
but, when you become a premium publisher that means you sign legal contracts with google and get given a set minimum amount of money a month, which means you must have over 20 million hits and be earning hundreds of thousands of dollars :O
Not bad for someone whose only 16 =/
But, googles TOS say you have to be over 18, so surely if you are now a Premium Publisher they will have checked into you and seen you weren't, and to sign contracts and crap also..How did you get around that?
If you dont mind me asking :P

Google themselves answered this Question:
"Have a "very high quality" site and receive over 20 Million hits........"

Google has caused a lot of issues in my family- switching from my mom, to my brother, to my mom again lol. They know I'm under age. The second call I got from google was my rep saying "I noticed on your myspace page..."lmao. So it's in my mom's name :]

Would Google actually do anything since you make that much money for them? I think they would probably just send out another contract for your parents to sign..

why havent you modified your adsense ads so that they don't look anything like adsense.. which would let you make more money. kind of like the 'sponsored links' here: http://superbowl.about.com/od/partiesfood/a/superbowlgames.htm
