Clinton had a 5.7 trillion dollar debt when he left office. His so called surplus was a projected budget plan but the 5.7 debt was there when he left office. Google it yourself.

I'll do the rest tomorrow.

http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/05/01/clinton.debt/

In a written statement, Clinton said the $216 billion payment represented the largest debt paydown in American history, and he said that the federal government's long-term debt is now $2.4 trillion lower than projected to be when he first took office.

However, the U.S. government still has a long way to go before it pays down the entire national debt, which now stands at $5.7 trillion.

Oh, gee, WHO was president before bill clinton? Oh thats right, retard senior

Democrats almost always increase economic performance for ALL classes while Republicans have the worse overall performance and their leadership only benefits the upper classes in a noticeable way.

The ONLY time Republicans produce noticeable economic growth for ALL income levels is during election year.

It's the democrats who wanted to make housing affordable to everyone, starting in 1977 with democrat Jimmy Carter. With the help of a new legislation passed by Clinton (1995), and money hungry Fannie Mae buying up mortgages, banks were pressured to pass out money, to well basically anyone with a name. Everyone was able to buy a house, regardless of credit. Who warned of a possible collapse? the republicans, by both McCain, and the Bush Administration. With high loan payments, and the added cost of gas (both parties since the 1980's knew gas would go up, so don't try that argument), people started bailing out on their loans. The housing bubble popped, and the banks came tumbling down. What goes up when the banks go down? Inflation. Inflation rises, and the economy stumbles.

Who was a big supporter of Fannie Mae. Mr. Obama himself. He sat back, and took cash from them, lots of it.

The video breaks down everything perfectly. Argue whatever the hell you want, but it's the absolute truth. Don't be brainwashed by the liberal media telling you everything happening now is because of the republicans.

McCain has also taken a lot of money from Fannie Mae so that's a moot point. And in order to get that law passed for the affordable housing it would take support from both Dems and Republicans so that's a moot point as well.

This has nothing to do with liberal media just look at the link I posted it shows FACTS based on 50 years of presidency and almost a dozen administrations not just opinions, and not just ONE single administration or point as your posts do. If you just want to pick and chose single instances we could go back and forth all day long posting he said she said links.

Find me a link that covers at least 25 30 or 50 years worth of data showing that Republicans did a better overall job for the MAJORITY of the US population not just corporations and the Upper class and you might put a small dent in my dislike for them :smartass:

Actually, Obama took 49 times more than McCain, and the Democrats ruled the governing bodies during those time periods. Obama's history with Fannie Mae is beyond deep. McCain argued against what was happening, Obama kept the support rolling out, and the money rolling in. So no moot points there. Watch the video, you would have known that.

This isn't just a single instance, nor do I see any issue more important than this in the last 30 years. The problem is it took 30 years for it to develop, and bite people in the ***. If the housing bubble was not formed, we would NOT be in this situation!

Find me a link that covers at least 25 30 or 50 years worth of data showing that Republicans did a better overall job for the MAJORITY of the US population not just corporations and the Upper class and you might put a small dent in my dislike for them :smartass:

Every party has their ups, and downs, I'm not denying that. There is dirt on both sides. I'm Independent of any political party, they both act like little kids who need to be put in timeout. However, on the terms of THIS economic down fall, the Democrats are largely at fault, but the media portrays it as a Bush problem, since they are all over Obama's nuts. Obama preaches about failed economic policies, when he had his hands in quite possibly the biggest one ever.

It's not just the housing markets, there are also many practices on wall street put in place by republicans causing it's collapse, the oil issues caused by Bush and his administration lying to congress and the public to get approval for the Iraq war, skyrocketing unemployment rates, rapid inflation, and other things.

If it was just the housing sector it could easily be fixed, just cause they fix the housing market don't mean the economy won't still be one big pile of sh!t which it will be. And yes the Dems recently gained control of congress but that don't mean much when the president is still a Republican with his head up his backside.

I will give the Republicans credit though they did produce Reagan
