He picks Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate.
I've never heard of her until now.

What are your thoughts?

I was hoping he'd pick Condi Rice myself, but now that I've learned more about Sarah Palin I think shes going to help John McCain win this election.

Obama has already goofed by attacking small town America because of this.

One thing that really stands out is the fact that her son like John McCain's is/has served in the Military, from what she said her son deploys to Iraq on Sept 11th this year and enlisted Sept. 11th of last year.

Its hard to accuse them of being war mongers when both of have brave children serving our country.

No it makes perfect sense actually... It was going to be hard for women who was going to vote for Hillary to change over to Barrack.

Palin will be the first woman Vice President.

edit: I think she's kinda hott too, got that "MILF" librarian look ;)

Everone's going to vote for mcain now lol,
becucause he picked a woman for vice present, which get's all the womans votes, all the horn dogs becuase she was runner up for miss alaska, all the autistic chrildens mothers are going to vote for her since her youngest sun is autistic, And all of the soliders and soliders parents are going to vote for her since her oldest sun signed up to go to the army.

Just curious, why? I always like to understand what issue sways other peoples votes?

mostly because mccain says he's going to continue the busy-cheney economic policy.
which really isn't helping right now.

& barack pointed out something really good last night in his speech. he said mccain is (i don't remember exactly) like, on his own in a way when it comes to decisions. yet he agrees with bush more than 90% of the time.
*don't mind that part if it doesn't make sense*

sure barack is going to do new taxes with middle class. it sure is going to help when mccain won't do crap. he believes that the wealthy should do the best. & hopefully their success will trinkle down to the middle class.
i don't think that'll happen with how our economy is now.

well there's my input. :whistling:

Alaska is the largest state in area, not populaton or electoral votes. >_< That would be Texas, California and New York. And not in that order. Shes excellent. Very qualified as a republican candidate and yes, shes a milf ;)

I feel like McCain is a snake and is trying to be slick :). And he is very hypocritical. He throws stones at Obama for being inexperienced and then chooses her as his vp :whistling:. What sucks though is that democratic feminists are going to vote McCain and it makes hardly no sense at all =/.

I strongly support McCain but I understand why others don't and IMHO its due to a lack of knowledge in most cases.

I'm for the most part Pro-Life, and feel that the mother of unborn child shouldn't have the right to abort, and IMO that is murder. So I vote McCain!

I know more about how the military works than your average everyday Iraq war bashers. Obama doesn't know anything about how the military works or operates and both McCain & Palin both have children who is/has served in Iraq. So I vote McCain!

Obama voted to end the funding to me, my friends, family members and every troop in Iraq, which would of caused us all to lack the equipment we needed there to survive. Voting for withdrawl is one thing but cutting our supplies is another! So I vote McCain!

Don't get me wrong the economy is a important thing to me and its in bad shape. But I think people who vote for "Obama's" so called change are the ones foolish enough to believe change can't get no worse. Sure Obama might be able to help our economy more than McCain, but our money isn't going to be anything if he doesn't know how to handle crisis that arise with enemy nations.

I know that Obama would have to likely do military things he now thinks he'd never do, if he was presented with the same info on each and every threat our current President is each and everyday. Overall I think John McCain has a much better idea of what these threats currently is and how to deal with them. So I vote McCain!

I really want to write so much more, but I'll wait til somebody challenges something I've said so far :)

McCain is so lame. He only picked her for vice president because he knew that he was in danger of losing, and he needed that extra "umph" that would help change people's minds. If he was in overall good standing, I bet you a million dollars that his vice president would have been a man.

We all know how people are going to easily fall for his trap.

Lol, well what about Obama? He chose somebody simply because he has no international skills? He picked somebody who considers John McCain his friend? Obama picked somebody who has voted far the war in Iraq, when Obama voted against it! Whats the difference? Its a sealed deal. McCain has won this election :)

If you think McCain is losing and plan on voting for Obama you might want to go ahead and cast your vote now, polls show McCain was up 2% over Obama this week. 46% McCain, 44% Obama 3% margin of error.

McCain is toooooo old, he and his policies are outdated and he has a 1960's view of the economy, we need fresh views and ideas. I'm not saying I agree with everything Obama wants but most of it yes.

As for Obama's lack of experience with threats and war, it's not as big of an issue as people make it out to be. It's the congress that decides who and when we go to war with and no president not even McCain unless he is a complete moron conducts a war on his own, they all have huge staffs of high ranking experienced generals to help them.

Just because McCain fought in Vietnam does not mean he is any more qualified, the Vietnam war was MUCH different then the conflicts of today. Do we really want his "kill em all" mentality in there? It's that thinking that got us in the effed up situation we're in right now.

I also disagree with McCain's energy policy, opening up off shore drilling and drilling in Alaska will not even make a dent in our foreign energy independence and will take years to get going full swing. Nuclear plants are the same thing, 10+ years to get the plants built and running. There are safer, cheaper, and faster ways.

Pro Life is another disagreement with me, I don't agree with late term abortion but I think a women has a right to choose early on.

McCain just lost this election. I'm an independent and generally liked Mccain until about 2 years ago when he sold his soul to Bush to get elected. Him picking Palin sealed the deal for me. It's reckless and irresponsible. Do I want Palin to be my next president? Hell no. There were plenty of more qualified men AND women he could have chosen from. Normally, the vp is not that big an issue but Mccain has a history of health problems and he just turned 72 so now he's made it an issue. I won't get into it with you on the war issue but basically failed Bush policies put you over there in the first place for personal gain not American strategic initiatives. Policies that McCain not only supported but said he'd continue for "100 years". Even as hyperbole that's a dumbass statement. These are our men and women who give their lives for our country not disposable pawn pieces. It saddens me that the people most affected by this insanity aren't sophisticated enough to understand the ramifications and voted for Bush twice and are considering voting for McCain/Palin.

I don't see what's wrong with choosing somebody who can help deal with things that you lack the skills in doing.

Additionally, I am Pro Choice. I agree with minnseoelite that a woman should have the right to abort early on.

Those polls aren't accurate. They don't account for a lot of people.

He voted for the war in Iraq in 2002, but three years later he admitted/felt that him voting for the war was a MISTAKE. He stated that he believed that Bush misused his war authority and he believes that all troops should be pulled out by the end of 2008.

We all make mistakes and we're not always going to make the right decision. Even if you're the president.

People can and will change and we can't take back what we did in the past. The only thing we can do is try our best to make a better future.

So if Obama's judgment is messed up, it certainly isn't for that. That's why we need to do research before tearing people down. And if you knew that Biden admitted voting for the war was a mistake, you can't fault him for trying to make a change for the better.

So I stand corrected: McCain is lame.

*tips hat to Meg'n* :cowboy:

Like I said, In most cases I'm Pro-Life with the exceptions to rape and the alike! Sure the number aborted babies is population control, and most of the people who support abortions IMO are racist people who want less minorities in this country as african americans abort more babies than any race. And Obama is supported by "Plan Parenthood" that has been caught on tape accepting money from racist people who wanted their donations to specifically go to the abortions of black babies. My way of thinking is not all those kids that would of done nothing to make this world a better place but that one child that would have. There is people in this world dying to have kids that can't!

I wouldn't ever consider myself "Pro-War" but I back the men and women serving our great country that has the courage face the enemies of our nation so you guys back home can have the freedom to bash them for doing the job of what our elected officials have sent them to do.

I find it funny how so many seem to know what needs to be done about a place that they've never been to and seen what its actually like, what progress has been made between then and now.

Instead of drifting this topic way off topic, I'll create my own thread on why I believe Obama is anti-american and things you should know about him. I hope the ones who say they are voting for Obama are not already aware of such things, because that troubles me.

Her speech last night was amazing and she totally called Obama out while doing it also.

Obama has never lead anything and has ZERO experience in anything but saying "PRESENT" while in the Senate during roll call.

Its a done election people.......McCain will be your next Prez

Why can't you vote? And even if you can't vote, or not old enough to vote, the future should matter to you! No matter who you're voting for you should always stand up for what you believe in.

Any one that has said this election is over regardless who you're voting for needs to go down to the local vet and have themself put to sleep for stupidity so you can't effect the rest of the gene pool.

This election is going to be another close one perhaps more so then when Bush was elected. Grab your popcorn people

What ?????? So if he loses its because he is Black ? Maybe people dont like his ideas just like they didnt for Kerry and Gore ? Maybe its because he has almost zero experience except for saying PRESENT while in the Senate. Maybe its because people just dont like the guy and choose McCain over him.

I cant believe you are throwing the race card in this but then again Obama did it the entire time he was fighting off Hillary.

Its funny how you say ignorance in your post about me when with almost everything I say I refer to a link and proof of what I state and I just dont spout off totally off the wall lies cause I saw it on the news or a buddy told me.

If racism is as bad as you make it he wouldnt be the nominee now would he. You also forget that its the Republicans that did away with slavery while them Dems fought it tooth and nail. You forget its the Dems that have a known KKK leader in the Senate. His name is Mr Byrd from WV.

I dont care if he is Black/Purple or Green thats not the point. Its the principles he stands on and what I think he brings to the table for the job. Now there are many Blacks that will vote for Obama just cause he has Black in him. So they too are racist correct ? It goes both ways and not one.

If he was to win we can say racism still lives cause Blacks voted for him just cause he looks Black when he is really mixed.

So what gives ?

If you want the links to back my words I will post them when I get to my other computer where they are bookmarked.
