View Full Version : to: all the designers that own a ms site (Free Content!)

GREGO
January 10th, 2007, 05:21 PM
Whats up designers,
I was thinking what if say 10 (or more) designers that own there own site came togeather and each contributed say 10 glitters every 2 weeks (or even month) to a pot then we would have at least 100 graphics of all different styles for free to add to our sites every couple weeks! Free! and all u have to do is design 10 graphics every two weeks to contribute. Obviously if we could get 15 designers or more then this would really be a sweet way to bulk on free content. We could get up to 300 glitters free every month. But this would only be open to designers that can make their own content to contribute.

What do you think about this idea, please let me and everyone else know. :cool2:

Is this just with and for other designers, or for everyone?

GREGO
January 10th, 2007, 06:02 PM
just designers who can submit their own original content.

I'm happy to see some interest in this!

shimmeringgraphix

Maybe the content can vary each month? Like one month we do glitters and the next contact tables, etc... Just a suggestion to get a diverse amount of content.

Selena
January 10th, 2007, 06:28 PM
I may be interested.

But if i was, i'd like to keep it as simple and easy as possible, since everytime people try to do a group thing here, everyone tries to throw in like more and more details and it complicates things and it messes up. I mean the diverse content would be a good idea, but look around at the group project threads and see how much confusion they usually end in. So try to keep this one simple is all i'm saying.

shimmeringgraphix
January 10th, 2007, 06:33 PM
I think if one person (being Grego) can organize this whole thing and just tell people what to do it would make it easy. I see what you mean about the other group projects, Selena.

Danago

I like the idea. It serves as a great starting point for the newer resource site owners, and also great for the older sites to just add new content.

Im all up for it. Would we have to design specifically for the MSRS script?

Precious
January 10th, 2007, 08:26 PM
I like this idea! Although I don't think tagging should be required because that is alot of work, and after all - we are doing this free! :)

And as Stephanie suggested - something different each month, GREAT idea.

And just to make sure I understand this correct - ONLY the people who contributed get's a copy of the pack, correct? I think that would be only fair... :)

Let me know, either way i'm interested!

NaSh123
January 10th, 2007, 08:34 PM
I would say keep it the same. Glitter Graphics. And thats that. Different things leads to confusion. You can have glitter graphics and for every 2 weeks have a certain "type" due. For example, for the first 2 weeks of January make Valentines day Glitters. With 10 makers or 5 just do the math. Then weeek 2 u have somethign else. and so on.

January 10th, 2007, 10:46 PM
What if the person makes crappy graphics though? LOL, no offense.

vulcanstudios
January 10th, 2007, 10:55 PM
Make them double up. Haha that will probably end up being me. I'll tell you what though everyone here is good at something different. Why don't we just let someone say hey I'll do this and Greco can be the one to decide if it's worth it. So one person might make 10 contact tabels and another person might make 5 insane glitters. Greco can decide that's equal contribution. Just make it laid back and let Greco decide. I'm all in for this once I get my site started. I might be willing to trade some top notch generators for content. I'm too lazy to make layouts.

So just keep it laid back like a game of poker one person puts their stuff out and everyone calls even if all you've got is a rolex and no cash.

Thanks,
VulcanStudios

It's a good idea, but to be honest I think it would be smarter to go with a smaller group because it's less to manage and also to mess up har harrr, if you get me.

Danago

What if the person makes crappy graphics though? LOL, no offense.

I guess the other designers just need to pick and choose which ones they like. They are free after all :) But if somebody submits REALLY poor quality work, then i think theres a problem.

shimmeringgraphix
January 11th, 2007, 10:01 AM
I think if someone is that bad then (not to be mean) kick them out of the group just because it wouldn't be fair for those who spend their time making "high quality" graphics. I'm thinking as well this should be a smaller group of people and maybe Grego you can judge the quality of the graphics and tell who is in the group and who isn't, not to make you do all the dirty work.....

YabbaDoo

I think this is an AWESOME idea.
I think the only problems it may bring is more people just joining the forum to get there content then leave again,
I think it will work brilliantly if everyone who can make stuff makes stuff and then are eligible to claim the stuff for there own sites.
It's a win-win situation, pure genius!
I think it should have some strict rules on it though, so say, you have to be active on the forum regularly, have to be registered since 2006 maybe? to prevent people coming on JUST for this feature.
etc.
But yeah, I'm in if it's just making a few glitters every 2 weeks, and I would be intrested in claiming the final pack, this is such an awesome idea I can't get over it :P If everyone contributes there will be HUGE amounts of free glitters etc up for grabs and will make our sites SO much more popular as everyones glitters looks different and people like to see the diversity in one place.
XD
:):)

Put my name in, keep this simple.

Set a deadline for example 19th January for anyone whos in to send 10 Glitters and 10 Contact Tables to GREGO and then by that Sunday we'll all recieve them and loads more back :)

But I also agree not to allow low quality work involved :P

Awesome idea!

I think all people who's in for sure should post examples of what they're capable of. I'm interested, but iono yet.

Would layouts be coded also? Or is whoever making them just gonna provide images?

YabbaDoo
January 11th, 2007, 01:59 PM
Yep, make an examples thread, this would be good if it had a forum of its own :P
I love this idea ;) haha...You need a lot of new threads to plan it out though, dont you? or am I worrying too much :P

I think we should just this started! I'm excited, hehe! :)

I would say keep it the same. Glitter Graphics. And thats that.
Sorry to dis-agree, but I think it would be better for our sites if we switched it up. The more we add to our site, the more visitors/more people want to come back, right? If were just adding glitters - well, what about the people who come to the sites for only layouts? Or only contact tables? Etc. :) If one person was in control of everything, it should come out perfectly...

If Grego can't do this, i'm more than willing to oraganize it. (Since i'm a very organized person and spend 10-12 hours per day online) just let me know. :)

PS. I also have over 6 feedbacks (some by same users!) and 100 posts... I think i qualify, hehe. :)

GREGO
January 11th, 2007, 03:47 PM
thats good precious because i don't think i'd make a good organizer for this.

I think we should just focus on one type of graphics at a time say like one period we do glitters then the next period we do contact tables then layouts next and just keep it in a rotation.

as far as quality goes i think all designers should make the same quality that they expect the other designers to make for this. I was also thinking that if we don't like content someone is submitting then we tell the organizer and if a person gets too many complaints then there out of the group.

i was also thinking since were all coming togeather that this thread should be a place where we can share tips and tricks for our graphics. and come up with ideas for what we want to design.

I also agree with having a pre requisite before being able to join to ensure ppl arn't coming to the forum just for this. but i think we should all vote on that and everything else for that matter.

I'm happy to see this is going to obviously happen and i look forword to getting this all situated soon.

That's what I was talking about.

Alright, i'll take over this, and organize it if everyone else is okay with it. If no one objects, i'll get started with the examples thread in a few hours. :)

Thanks! :) Should I make a seperate thread just for the examples? So it's a little more organized?

YabbaDoo
January 12th, 2007, 07:37 AM
Yeah, maybe make an "Application thread" where EVERYONE applys and make a little form for them to fill in with examples?
Then when get everyone together and stick everyone in a category so
CAT. 1: MYSPACE CONTACT TABLES
2. GLITTERS
etc...and get a few people in each one depending on what they are best at then every 2 weeks say everyone donates 10-20 to you via PM and you send them out to EVERYONE who is signed up in a big ZIP file? that would mean all the work for you :O LMAO
Or, you could ask Greg to make a private thread so only people who are registered as providers of the graphics can see it and update the thread whenever people want so its just a thread full of free graphics lol...Only problem is doubt greg will do it, so any other ideas? lol :P

Dean

Erm another way for people to access the content is for all of us to PM a download link, then Precious PM's us all the list of links?

Or is -if the quality is good enough- everyone going to be accepted?

And I'd also like to know if the content has to be unique/exclusive for this group or can we sell as well?

Precious

Let me try answering those in order, lol.

1. I havn't made a firm decision on that, yet. I'm waiting to see the number of responses. But I will probably go buy as many as we can get that have GOOD quality graphics. The bigger the pack, the better - right? :)

2. The content does need to be unique/exclusive to the group. Sorry. It only seems fair :)

I had a member ask me if they can join the group but this is the situation:

They cannot make their own graphics, they have their girlfriend make them for them. (i'm refering this person as they so I don't give out too many details, sorry) So basically they want to have their girlfriend make the graphics for the package, and they get the pack every 2 weeks.

I'm not to sure if this is acceptable, since this is for the designers themselves, but I wanted to make sure from other members as well. Please feel free to PM me if you do not feel comfortable posting your thoughts on the board. I really do need some opinions on this matter.

Thank you

That wouldn't make much sense would it? Basically having someone else make your graphics for you then you get the profit. I thought this was for designers only... But I guess if it's alright with you guys(and girls) its alright with me..

No, that was EXACTLY my thought and the reason I posted this. I thought I was being selfish. Trust me, this person is VERY nice and I find them to be a friend and everything, so I would hate to tell them they cannot be apart of the group - so I needed everyone else's opinions.

I don't really care as long as someone puts out graphics on their end I think it's fine...Plus if he never said his girlfriend was going to do it we would of never been able to tell the difference.

Actually, I would have. lol they told me awhile ago, so i'm the one who asked if it would be him or his girlfriend.

The way I look at it is we work hard to get our graphics done, and for someone to be to have someone ELSE do the hardwork and them get the credit (basically what it is, when they get the pack) it just seemed kind of unfair to me. But then again, it is more graphics for the pack...

So I want the opinions of a few others before I give them a decision. :) This is a team, so i want everyone's thoughts before just making a decision. :)

Tenche. I've warned you once already and i'll warn you again in case you didn't see the other thread first. If you continue to be rude and insult everyone else's hard work, and can't say anything relevant to the topic other than the fact that you won't be using them, then please refrain from posting.

And if you don't know that glitters are one of the hugest parts of a myspace resource site next to layouts, then i'd doubt your running a decent resource site, because glitters are vitally important. And i'd like to see you make some extravagant glitters to dazzle us with your skills. Lets see some of the brilliant graphics that us "kidos" can't make. Sound good. If i have to warn you again about being unnessesarily rude i will take further action by informing the other mods about a solution.

Sorry precious for invading your thread with my little lecture and rant. Carry on.

Having them tagged will definately keep them unique to just us so our groups work doesn't get thrown all over the place.

I have about 100+ glitters I still have to add to my site, but I have to tag them first. Havn't had the chance because I've had alot of orders for tagging glitters off my site hehe :) But no worries, I most definently will have them tagged before they go on my site! :)
