I noticed that almost none of you have their sites listed in signatures or in their profile.
Is there a reason for that? Do you not want people to know what site(s) you own?
I'm nosey and I wanna check you guys' sites out lol :P

Ummmmmm many of us have this for a reason.
Though listing your site in your sig is a good thing it also opens you up for trouble from not so nice people. Ideas are stolen and if you are a SUCCESS everyone (bad people) wants what you have and will do whatever it takes to get what you have.
Its really hard to explain.

I get you :P
But, your theory doesn't really work lol, as if you're a "SUCCESS" your site will be popular and known about anyway, and therefore webmasters will DEFINETLY find you and copy you anyway.
As soon as you become successful, you get stolen from (ideas and content)
I can however assure you, being stolen from is possibly the biggest compliment someone can give you. It shows they want to be you, have what you have, and see you as someone who has what they want, you get me? ;)

What if somebody comes up with an idea that has huge potential, but might take a while to get it started to be successful? Somebody with alot of funding may steal the idea, and because of the money, could put it into action sooner? I dunno, just a though :p
But yea, i was thinking the exact same thing not long ago.

If you are in the business and have a popular website, webmasters will know about it some day or the other. In the case of myspace sites, remembering names is tough because of the similar sounding domains.......

PGZ hit it the nail on the head, although with a bit of research you could figure out anybody's site, it's better than blatantly showing every cheater and scammer in the world publicly what site(s) you own.

I like you am just curious. What prompted that question ??

Uh I'm a web designer, I like looking at other peoples sites.
Just like painters like to go to art galleries and breeders like to go to dog shows :P
But basically you're saying I'd be better off taking my sites out of my sig cause this forum is full of stealers? o.Ot

Nope didnt say that so please dont put words in my mouth. This IS a public site that anyone can visit....Go look at my Sig at DP.......says the same thing as it does here.
Though the members here are cool and I trust them very much its the people that I dont know that I dont trust. Im not trying to sell anything here so I have no need to broadcast my sites to the world. Is there something wrong with that ?
I have nothing to hide but they are my sites and I choose what to say and what not to say.
You asked why people dont have sites in Sigs and I told you why.....Just cause you dont like my answer Im sorry but thats the truth.

This guy on SNF was paying people to hack the site of this guy they don't like.
Since this fourm is open for guests to view most of the forum, its very easy for not so nice scammers from SNF or other places to come and get a site url and easily pay someone to do that to one of our sites.
Its not really the members here that I'm worried about, its the guests. There are multiple reasons. Some people might report you to google for click fraud even though you'd never even done it, but if they want you banned from Adsense, they'll do it to spite you.
You get where i'm going with this. Although i'll probably post my sites in my sig, i respect others wishes not to.

This has nothing to do with Tab or anything it just came to mind reading this thread.
I really wish that one day all the scammers, hackers, ect would get hacked one day so they can see how it feels. I really hate them
Just my opinion like i said this has nothing to do with TAB or anyone..

This post was and is far more then what it has been made out to be. That question was asked for other reasons other then what you make it out to be.
tab you really dont want me to go further into this.
Gosh, whats with your attitude?
I simply asked why no one's showing off their sites. Generally speaking webmasters are proud of their sites, I guess thats not the case here...
I think you're contradiction yourself a little, cause having a popular site means people will know about it. If no one knows your site, it's not popular.
And I dont care if you show your site or not, it's just something I noticed and thought I'd ask, I apologize for asking a question... :hammer:

think of it this way. if i were a controversial figure, and drove a ferrari, then it probably wouldn't be a good idea to park it in public and have everyone see its mine... because it could get keyed.

I dunno with the others but I know the reason why I don't have my site in my sig!!!! :P (I ussually do)
Because: It's so different from the sites that most people have here, it's a doll / graphic site, very girly & maybe kinda baby-ish, I just didn't want to show everyone what a cute site I can make :P

Some people aren't bothered about letting everyone know what their sites are and some people prefer to err on the side of caution just in case someone decides they have a grudge or an axe to grind.
Here is a good real-life example of why you would choose not to reveal your site(s).
Hey man if the rich jerk wants to be a jerkoff like he is, The faster he can take your domain and hard seo the faster he will be google bowled (http://www.webpronews.com/expertarticles/expertarticles/wpn-62-20051027GoogleBowlingHowCompetitorsCanSabotageYouW hatGoogleShouldDoAboutIt.html) by someone and banned permanently with one night of blog and ping.
Sometimes its the only way to learn his lesson if no one is coming to his site through seo and he has to pay to get people to his site he will learn
Let me know if he actually takes your domain because he wont be on google, yahoo, msn, or ask within the next 3 days. Im not saying I will do it or im affiliate with it It could be some dude getting really really pissed off and saying thats it Rich Jerkoff is going to be google jerked off.
This is quoted from a thread on DigitalPoint discussing the legal ramifications of a site that more or less traded off of the Trademark of someone.
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=205394
I've added the link to Google Bowling (http://www.webpronews.com/expertarticles/expertarticles/wpn-62-20051027GoogleBowlingHowCompetitorsCanSabotageYouW hatGoogleShouldDoAboutIt.html) for the purposes of explaining what it's all about.
Then there's DMCA, hacking, bandwidth theft, ripping, etc. ...

I dont understand google bombing at all, and after reading that long and detailed article, I'm still just as in the dark as ever, it just confused me even more :P
I thought google bombing was just where the competitor clicked the same ads over and over again, so google kick you off for having repetitive clicks from one IP.
But it says something about side-wide text link ads??????!!!!! :|
And what are they LOL *confused* :( :P

Hmm well I have had my site in my sig since day one here without thinking.
And funnily enough I have seen some of my design ideas/site layout being ripped elsewhere from owners here.
However, I dont think its affected me in anyway. So far the worst someone has done is copied how I modified my pages to look. But nothing worse.
Perhaps if my site got alot bigger and more well known I may not but for now I dont see no reason to hide it.

The big earners arent going to be more hesitant to disclose thier site because osme prick could try to copy thier layouts, links, or get thier adsense or yahooo account disabled. if you making lots of moeny you have to protect your revenue.

BINGO......
People I know very well know some of them but no one knows exactly all of them. I dont trust the people that can just access the site as a visitor and never sign up. The ones that just come here for that very reason.
My site is in my Sig......Go sign up and take a look at it.....LOL

Sometimes though you just can't help but like looking at sites. *_* Surfing is a fun thing to do after all. ;)
I don't really enjoy browsing contents though coz they are just basically the same thing over & over again, nothing I haven't really seen or haven't made before.
I just like the generators, especially unique, well-made ones, they're so cool. Basically I just gape with awe the whole time. :3

I've been reading blackhat blogs/forums lately, out of pure curiosity (honestly), and it amazes me just how far you can go with that stuff. It's scary to know that if someone wanted to, they could not only easily up their position in serps, but completely remove the top 5 competition as well.
It almost makes you afraid to speak up against people online, for the fear of making an vindictive enemy.
