Just curious to see what you guys' opinions are on Yahoo Publisher's Network vs. Google Adsense?

well, I don't like YPN because you have to give a Tax ID/SSN. I've never used Google, so I really don't know about it. I use Clicksor and it's always worked very well for me.

laars - you should try adsense and if you live in the US apply at YPN. Clicksor isn't great and I would stay away from them, maybe try to get your site accepted in valueclickmedia instead? How old are you and why don't you wanna give you SSN to YPN or adsense?

I make about 10 times more with YPN then adsense. Adsense is better for some sites, but not myspace related sites..

I'll be 15 in January, so I can't give that info because it'll be taxed if I make over $500 year.

I have to file taxes for work, so i mean, whatever really. Taxes seem so scary to me, but yeah. I'd hate to have to file taxes, but i mean, its what you've got to do to contribute to the country, unfortunately.

Its worth it to pay taxes just to be in YPN if you are in the myspace scene. You won't make as much using google, so the little bit of taxes you have to pay will only be a fraction of the income you can get with YPN :)

You could be making SO much more with YPN or adsense instead of just clicksor.. so whats wrong with paying taxes?

not to mention if he/she makes $7825 or under for 2007 they will be in the 10% tax bracket and only have to pay $782.50 in taxes...

At 15 whatever tax you pay you will get back at the end of the year unless your making some CRAZY amount of money....

You need to talk with Selena or some of the other minors on the site about how taxes would effect you.

And then you'll get almost all of it back when you file in April. My son works at Hardees and has a site online which make about $150-$200 a month. He gets everything back.

I don't know much about taxes because I've never filed them. I started working at Subway last December right before Christmas, so I only had like 3 Dollars in taxes to pay, and i'm sure the IRS wouldn't hunt me down for 3 bucks.

I'm going to get my mom to file my taxes =D

Well back on the topic of YPN and Adsense. YPN seems to be the better performer but the major reason for that is they really scrutinize all their publishers to bring in quality traffic thus making advertisers pay more to put their ads on the YPN. That being said, a lot of people running MySpace sites have been terminated from the YPN for "quality of traffic". If your willing to take the risk the payoff is good but yeah you risk getting your account terminated for no real reason.

Adsense won't terminate your account for quality of traffic unless your involved in like some kind of very shady traffic pyramid scheme. The downside is the ads don't pay as much.

Just remember, adsense doesn't want myspace bulletin traffic :whistling:

$782.50 plus 15% of the amount over 7,825 if you make under 31,850

you can also have YPN withhold taxes for you i believe that way you dont have to worry about anything at the end of the year.
