View Full Version : Mods to be Mods

I think a lot of the rules should be left for the Mods. to handle and take care of. There are way too many members here that think they can walk all over people, treat them like crap and make them feel less than nothing.
If old posts should not be posted in, they shouldn't be on the forum! I mean, doesn't that only make perfectly good logic?
The only thing these members are doing, is upsetting some of us, making sure we never buy from them, and wonder if and why we are even part of a forum that would treat us as pieces of $hit!
Greg J. You're a great person........I know, or would think, that you wouldn't want to lose Members because of some others that have nothing better to do than sit in front of their Computers making posts/threads about how useless and idiotic Newbies are.
Some people (Members) on here think they're here to rule the roost, make life a living hell for others.
Why not just get rid of old posts/threads? Why keep 1 and 2 yr. old posts.
When I was going into old threads, I didn't know they were a year or more old.....I never knew, never even thought there would be threads that old!
Some people really don't look at the darn dates. Some people really don't come on here to post in old threads just to make people pissed off!
Geeesh!
I cannot even believe I'm wasting my time on this whole subject.
But I feel like I'm in a Hosp. Nursery listening to a bunch of crying
babies! That's what they all sound like!
Hugs,
Belinda

When I joined, there was a big red message that said no posts have been made in so and so time. I suggested an auto thread locking feature but nothing came of it. It is annoying to see people post these are nice to a thread that is over a year old and the person hasn't been active maybe since then. Lots of people just do those effortless posts to get to the 15 posts to be able to PM. I haven't boldly disrespected anyone who has done this (I don't think) but I have asked them if they knew. Maybe some things should be checked out but those big red bold letters are pretty hard to miss imo.

It's kind of like common sense to me. When I joined, I checked out some freebie posts from back 2007. There's a big red text that tells you how long a thread has been replied to and if it's been like 6 months why respond? All you have to do is look up to find the date you know. I knew it would be pointless to do so, so I didn't. You can always add to someone's rep to give them a thank you.
I agree that after a certain about of time, certain posts should be closed or something (well at least the freebies, not the marketplace 'cause those are paid for lol).
Again there ARE NOT a lot of threads bashing newbies. Some were designed to HELP newcomers. For some odd reason, a lot of you guys are taking it the wrong way =/.

I personally don't even see whats wrong with bringing up old threads. What, once we discuss a topic on here it's taboo to ever add to it again? that's pretty silly really.
I say revive old threads whenever you see fit.. there is no rule against it.
now if the subject is time sensitive, then don't revive it.. but otherwise, why not?

i recall one that was time sensitive about a myspace glitch that happened long ago. threads like that, what's the point in posting in it? if a thread was made in 2006/early 2007 and the OP hasn't been active since, why post in that?

I think it's more so the freebies section, that's mainly what gets "revived". There's not much you can contribute to a freebie topic aside from "thanks". I could understand if it was a topic of greater substance or more meaning but it's usually not.

i think the whole point are members are trying to enforce rules that mods should be enforcing. i totally agree. its something that causes tension and fights on the forum. if you can bring yourself to just LET IT GO, im sure a mod will get it taken care of. for real, if you learn to just ignore the things that get on your nerves on here, then you might have a better experience.
you can even pm a mod or greg with your concerns instead of starting a whole thread about it that might lead to a flame war. but thats just my suggestion.

Yes, Yes!! Very well said.......I wish I would have written Greg or a Mod!
I just wish Mods. would handle all things that have to do with Rules, No No's, etc. Not for Members to be doing.
I so have to get off this topic.....As you stated; I'll have a better experience if I just ignore the things that get on my nerves.
@ Caprice; I have to go check these threads out now! I swear I don't remember big bold red print! lol.........See how clueless I am? :hammer:

I totally agree. People just need to let some things roll off. Let the mods handle problems. You don't like something, click the report post button. All the mods get a message and will check it out.
You a new member? There are a few ppl here that live to red rep newbies. Why? Feeling of empowerment, nothing better to do, honestly I have no idea. If you think you are being treated unfair, let a mod know.

Indeed. I understand that most people just like to help keep the place they call home in order, but the best way to do that is report a post you think ought to be reported. Every mod gets an email the moment a post is reported so even if we're not on the site, someone will see it and come to help almost immediately.
As for old posts showing up, is that notice at the top of old posts not there anymore?

AGREED!! =]]
sometimes somethhing will bug me, and i'll write this big long complainy, angry, or ranty post/thread, and then when i go to post it i think "maybe i'm better off not posting this", and whenever i get that thought i usually don't.
Like when everyone kept complaining about how people were labeling their threads "HQ" even if they weren't HQ, all i could think was "really, are the 3 extra seconds you wasted looking at a non-hq graphic pack really that important to you that you cant just move on?" no, of course they couldn't move on. people had to post big long rants about how annoying it was.

LOL...........GUILTY!!!!
i mean the buyer can judge for themself if its HQ or not. i totally remember that.

A mod should not be saying no to a member request if it is within their ability and not violating any rules.

To be honest, its really annoying to have super old threads posted in :/ I mean someone even made a thread about the threads you can post in to get your post count up.
Theres no need to post in a thread that says "THIS THREAD HAS NOT BEEN REPLIED TO IN 8 MONTHS" in huge red letters at the top.
As for thread deletion, well sometimes the threads are somewhat helpful. If anything, the threads should be closed - not deleted.

I don't think its annoying if they actually post something relevant but what you see new users doing is digging up old posts just to post things like "cool" and "wow" to get a higher post count. I think older topics shouldn't be closed, they're more interesting than the topics that get posted these days.

Yeah, but has it ever actually been helpful? :/ In all my time here, its something completely useless.

I agree with that, it annoys the **** out of me. As for freebies- they can just give the person giving it away some green rep instead of replying to a thread thats a year old.
It's not like members are trying to be mods, they are usually trying to HELP The new members, they need to learn the rules eventually.

because some old threads have good information in them,
Ie some threads I wasted time making..
not many good quality posts on here now days...
why delete the good content and only have crap content left, great idea

Why not just lock the threads, that are over 6mos etc, instead of deleting, could'nt that be done automatically or would the mods have to manually lock them. And does this apply only to freebies, bc I know for myself I have posted in old sales thread, if i was interested in offer to find out if its still available.
Also agree let the mods do the policing(Y)

I agree
I have been to many forums, and they just bash on you, because it's over the internet, and they don't have to face the fact.
I think if anyone bashes they should be reported, and mods should be the people that work out things.

I agree with that! I joined a forumn awhile back and went to post a link but by mistake I put in the basic html code/ < >, not the forum code / the [ ] There wasn't an edit button, so I posted a reply to it like a second after I saw the mistake, correcting myself. Those people chewed me out about thread bumping and not reading the rules blah blah. Which was so not true. All it was, were a bunch of teeny boppers with big heads acting all high and mighty. When in real life they wouldn't dare say half that stuff to me! It's so funny how some people are so different over the net. anywho I'm rambling on! oopsy :offtopic:

The people that whine and complain about old threads being brought up and posted in get mad cause they themselves think its new and they start reading till they realize its old. If they would follow their own words and read the date before they get knee deep into it then it wouldnt piss them off..
Now ya know why they dont like it and why they get Mad......LOL :sleep1:
