I just noticed the 'Sponsored Links' above 'My Friend Space' one the MySpace welcome page. Has that always been there, or is it new?

I've been noticing more and more ads around myspace.
It only comes up every once in awhile, if you refresh it goes away most of the time and just appears randomly.

I noticed a big banner ad under my friends picture page once, i thought i was imagining things. They have some sort of thing going where it only shows ads every once in awhile, in other words, when you refresh, they usually go away.

And I don't know if anyone's noticed, but they've increased the number of pictures a profile is allowed to have. I noticed a page 2 for my friend's pictures once or twice, as well as the ads.

There have been more ads. They look more like random word ads though. I have seen some more pictures though... I hope myspace doesn't start getting populated with ads.

they are running their own links via myspace's own advertising network, these ads are sold via myspace.

The only google advertising on the site is via the search bar on the site which google payed 500+ million to have.

Well, he is partly correct, what he said about the Google purchase is correct yes, google did not JUST pay for the Search bar though, they did pay well over 500 Mill. for the ENTIRE control of the MySpace ad network, so yeah it's true, they do have there own ad network, people do pay privately to get listed, and they paid for the search bar too, but obviously they run the general adsense ads too.
But yeah Google paid for complete control over ads that run on MySpace. But I don't get how come some ads like go through to media.fastclick.net etc when you click them =/

Im pretty sure google does not have full control over all advertising, look at that 300 adv deal done only days ago this was not done via google now was it....

I was refering my previous comments to images alone...
