After the end of the month and my budget is back, I'll buy this. The best I have seen so far in terms of the userability - a big plus for me is it isn't flash based.
Very nice!

Don't get us wrong, we like Flash generators also but they are very server intensive and many are not well designed for SEO. If you have a high traffic site you really have to consider what type of generator to use.
Generators of all forms can tax a server into the dirt if not properly built and managed.
Thanks for your comment and look forward to hearing again from you. Happy Holidays.

Yea,
Design is also very smooth, I'd agree with Flash functionality is easier such as no waiting for fonts to load. But you pulled this off nice, again smooth design.

Just wanted to correct part of this statement. Flash is not server intensive at all, actually, it is quite the opposite. Some flash files can be "processor intensive" on the client side, but that does not effect the server in the least.

If I'm not mistaken flash based generators do have a few drawbacks. Please tell me if I'm wrong.
1. They request the file from the server. These files sometimes can be much larger than animated gifs. They should be anyways, they look great.
2. Flash is not near as effective in a SEO perspective as in standard html code. To this day experts in the field still say plain html or basic php is more friendly when it comes to ranking.
3. A standard image call <img src=..... works on many more types of sites and pages than flash.
The perfect solution is a gif that looks as great as flash, but that is not going to happen for some time yet.
I like flash and in many ways prefer it because it is just amazing the power it has and the graphics, well they just speak for themselves. We plan on marketing some of the flash generators in the future.
Thanks for your comment, and I'm sorry if I appeared really down on flash. I'm not.
My real concern is cpu and bandwidth. Many of these generators are great, but once your server starts getting 20 requests per second for images you have to start looking for off site image location. Flash or Gif, the draw backs in this area are the same.
Great forum and I really like everyones input and questions.

Sorry for not being around to answer all your questions. I'm amazed at this forum. You guy are great. There is more activity here on the 23rd and 24th of December than there is on the big forums. I will make sure that I turn on notification so I keep up with you guys in the future.
Very impressive.
Question from: Morgan
Does this script work with MSRS?
Answer:
I have not seen a CMS (Content Management System) that this won't work with yet.
No I have not put it on a MSRS site yet. In fact another person PM'd me and I asked if he would like to be the first test site. If I had full ftp access and possible back end access from someone (want to volunteer) I would install it for free after you purchase the script and make it so that anyone could do it in just minutes. Full docs and all files made for this system.
Question from: Andria
Is there a way to change the black outline?
Andria, are you talking about the the black outline of the scroll box that the graphic is located in?
If so, the graphic is going to moved into the actual GUI hopefully today. I'm working on that right now actually. I'm also adding a new skin to it so you can choose the gui template you want.
Hope that answered your questions?
Feel free to post more if you have them.
Thanks and Merry Christmas to everyone and congratulations on such a great forum.

No problem. I've been a flash developer for the past 10 years and just did not want ppl to get the wrong info. 1. yes, but these files typically only have a font and small glitter background. So if someone is only making a small word, the gif may take less bandwidth. However, for larger words and saying, the flash should win everytime. Also, with the flash you don't have to store the image. 2. True. Don't base your entire page on Flash. I use flash like an image and SEO it that way with real contextual text on the page to handle SEO. 3. Correct. And since MySpace requires embedded content to be approved, that is the best reason to use PHP GD over Flash currently.
Your Generator looks great! Good luck with the sale.

How about this?
Whoever is the first person to post a message on this thread wanting this script that will allow me to install it for free with the use of ftp access, and access to their MSRS control or backend gets the script for $15.
Requirements: Your site must be a standard MSRS site and I will need a minimum of 12 to 24 hours to get it running. Reason for this is the holidays and keeping up with mods, forums, and ....well you know the rest.
This is not for the shy of heart. If you are not comfortable with this offer, then please don't take it.
I'm just offering this because multiple people would like the script for these types of sites and I don't have one. I have my own server with 50+ domains and I typically do SEO contract and Linux server work.
Sounds like a crazy question, but who is first?

No I was talking about the black outline around the text itself, after the glitter generates. Anyway to change it to white?
Also, I don't own an MSRS, i use basic php and do have a script installed on my site. Although my site has nothing to do with glitters, i'd love to add it to my site anyway. Spice things up a bit, let me know.

Hi Andria,
I will look into that, I suppose that I could make it something to add into the configuration file in which you could change easily. There are many things we can do to make the generator more nice, but with each addition comes a little more complexity. Simplicity is what we were shooting for actually. Features are great, don't get me wrong but we have to keep it all in perspective. I will see what I can do..

Great looking script, very interested.
Features:
Add your own glitter - Unlimited
By this, do you mean the glitter fills/tiles?
Twas
December 25th, 2006, 01:28 PM
Currently the script has a lot of glitters. The animated gif is built using the glitter as two of the layers of the final gif. This means that you can create your own glitter gifs and add them to the directory where the gifs are stored. The script will lay the animated gif over the font itself that you choose.
I use the background in the scroll box where the finished animated glitter text is located so people can see that the gif has a clear background. That way it looks clean on their page especially if their background is a picture or some other color than white.
Hoped that answered your question. If not, try me again.
Thanks
Maz
December 26th, 2006, 04:57 AM
Yeah, that answered it fine. :)
Another question though: the generated codes, are they like that in the script? The two "guestbook" codes appear to be wrong... =/
Twas
December 26th, 2006, 09:34 AM
Hey, you won't supposed to see that...:P
During the past two days we have completely reworked the script. I wanted to make it really simple to use on MSRS sites. With the use of many more variables and arrays the script will have more features now.
You will have a choice of two templates for better matching with your site.
You can turn on and off text outline on the animated gif.
You can change the title and the color of the text on the GUI to anything you want.
There was a lot more done also, but it's internal.
Later today all the work will be finished. To install into MSRS sites all you will have to do is:
1. Make a directory for the script. Copy all files and folders to it. Set permissions.
2. Put in a template page of yours in that directory named (index.php)
3. Add this line of code to where you want the generator on the page.
<? require('genz.php') ?>
4. Open controlz.ini (comes with script) and modify things like:
a. What template you want
b. Where the script is located (path)
c. What do you want for backlink text (outstanding for SEO)
d. What domain to point the backlink to. (Promote other sites you own if you want)
Note: there are even a few other things you can change.
Your generator is done and working. Under 5 min!
PS and the link will be correct in the text boxes. That was for testing purposes actually.
Thanks
Maz

The script is ready for MSRS. It works very well in this type of template.
I forgot to ask, but I don't think MrWizard will mind if I post his site here for you to see this in a MSRS site. He was the first to offer being a guinea pig site for testing and saved $15 for doing so.

Iframes work the best and load the fastest for this type of generator. It will run in an iframe or just as an include into a template page.
Ready when you are
Hats off to MrWizard and our thanks :beta1: then, but no longer.

Hey Twas, looks like everyone agrees that your gen looks great ;).
One small request/suggestion though...I really like how you have options for different code. Only problem is I don't know how many people would use a glitter gen to leave comments in guest books...at least in our type of traffic. Would it be possible/easy to change the two guest book code sections to something else?
Having forum/message board code would be much more useful than guestbook links in my opinion. You can get an idea what is popular by seeing what most major image host offer as far as ready made links.
Anyway, keep up the great work. Can't wait to see more cool gens from you!

December 27th, 2006, 09:21 AM
Thanks for letting me know about that, even better was the compliment. Jordan here on this forum mentioned this to me earlier and I made the mods mentioned right away. I also went to a couple of the large image hosting companies and verified the codes.
They should be fine now.
I want to say thanks again for all the support that everyone has given me on this forum.
Yes we have a few more generators already in the testing stages. It will be a short time and we will release one of them. Hopefully within two weeks.
We are considering a modular design that would allow those that buy the new generator or have purchased this one could then just add the new modules without having to do any form of install less copy some files.
Let me know what you think of this idea. We would probably give 25 to 50% off for those that already have one of our previous generators.
This method would allow for 1 minute installs...
This is just on the drawing board at this time but it looks good. Any one with the old version of software could get it upgraded to the modular version for either free or a $5 fee. Not sure yet, but really considering it.

December 28th, 2006, 01:23 PM
Yes, making money online is not all it's put up to be sometimes. But, this script will make you millions of dollars....don't I wish. Actually it just provides your visitors a service while providing you backlinks.
Don't forget the key feature of this script. Don't just use it to promote your site. Find easy to rank keywords that you want traffic on and use this script to promote that page. Use it on the main domain, but point the links into a new domain or another domain you have to promote it. Many keywords can be ranked on the search engines with very few backlinks.
If you only ever point the backlinks to your one site you are wasting this as a resource tool because many of the backlinks will come from the same domains. After a while you get domain backlink saturation especially from Myspace, so point the links somewhere else after that. Also rotate your link text.
Enough on SEO, but you have to believe me, this is the cheapest SEO (linking tool) you will ever find that provides reasonable quality backlinks for little or no work on your part.
So much for my 2 cents worth. Catch you tomorrow.

Do you know if there is anyway of making it so that there is a silver glitter outline around the text? So it doesn't matter what font or colour, there is just always a silver glittering outline? Also; is there anyway of adding pictures in with it? If you can do the glittering outline. haha

January 2nd, 2007, 03:41 PM
Hi Mawt,
We can make the generator almost walk you dog if you would like (kidding) but we wanted to keep it simple. We are working on more advanced generators right now but I don't think we will be adding a glitter outline.
Each step used uses more cpu on your server and each person likes something different. We have a few generators right now that work with pictures but we are trying to determine what the market wants the most before putting one up for sale.
I'm not making a promise that we will have a new one anytime soon, just that we have a few test models.
Research is very important before building a final product.
Thanks, Twas.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, or maybe you can ask your hosting company to upgrade ImageMagick. If this is your own server I might be able to help you out. :boat:

Just wanted to let you know about our next generator. I can't tell you everything about it but I can tell you this.
You will no longer need to buy glitter graphics from anyone and you won't have to hunt the web for glitter graphics to add to your site.
You will be able to glitter almost anything just the way you want to. Text, pictures, dollz, and more. Be creative and make your own unique finished glitter products. There is no other generator on the market like it.
This is the generator you will want for your site.
Another very important upgrade notice.
The new system is going to be modular so that is will integrate into our current text glitter generator.
Store files locally or have them stored on a free image hosting site to reduce server fatigue.
:sorcerer: Those of you that have bought our previous generator will get a big discount if you wish to upgrade and we will do the installation of the update for free.
If you are fluent in another language other than English we will be offering a discount if you wish to assist in making this a multi-lingual system.
The new year brings more new products from m8d.net.
Thanks for all your support and those that have purchased products from us in the past.

TripleX, the script is $30 installed or you can install it yourself.
Miller2348 You know in the script business there comes a time when you think you have it all, and then someone makes another request. I will look into if photobucket has an API that is similar to ImageShack. I never checked it out in the past.
I could actually use some help from you or someone else on the the Forum.

Do you or someone else reading this thread have a photobucket submission script?
Preferably in PHP.

They might only be able to accept FTP connections. I'll let you know though.

First, have to apologize for the server not working right for about an hour. My best friend has a monster size article site on there and about once a week it crashes MySql and shoves the CPU up to 97%....and well you know the rest. Luckily MrWizard (whom I'm starting to think should be Old Faithful) let me know about it. Appreciate your help Wizard.
If they do ftp that should be something that could be added. I would have to assume though two things would take place.
1. They are going to want the backlink on all images possibly.
2. You would have to have an account with them.
That brings me to...are accounts with them free?
Thanks
Twas
January 19th, 2007, 03:14 PM
Here is why it is best we don't ftp to offsite locations.
High traffic sites could have 10 to 50 users on the glitter generator script at the same time. If you are aware of how PHP's built in ftp works then you would understand that having that many ftp connections going during high traffic times could cause all kinds of problems.
We looked into many methods of doing this and less designing a script that would be larger than our generator in the first place, there wasn't an answer.
Preliminary testing shows ImageShack as a good alternative, but at times their servers can be really slow. Sometimes the request for submitting a file can be cued for up to 60 seconds and sometimes even times out.
The script allows for using them or switching it back to local storage in just seconds.
Thanks
PS Thanks miller2348 for your input and bringing up this question again.

Fryman,
I appreciate you pointing that out.
You are correct in the fact that ImageShack is not a great solution and actually I would not use them. I should make the script rotate time frames so that it only uses their service during low traffic hours, but as you know that wouldn't resolve the problem either.
This was a feature that a few people wanted and I can understand why. If hosting your own pictures is pulling 6 to 20 gig of bandwidth a day you can basically melt Apache. It is not just the bandwidth, it's the connections. Apache won't handle 200 or 300 active connections well at all and in some cases it won't period. Most low end servers (in which I don't have but one) will start rejecting incoming requests once there is 150 active current connections. You know what that does. While serving up all your pretty pictures for "FREE", the search engines get 503 errors and your site looses all its ranking. I just had it happen. Took 6 weeks to get my ranking back.
I'm not a Linux Guru, but I manage like the rest of us that aren't half brothers to the Linux blood line. Some of these guys and even women I think eat Penguins for breakfast. They can do anything and me, well I just drool thinking about it.
Well, so I don't boar all of you half to death with this I better go.
FYI - High traffic sites watch for those 503 errors in your logs, it can happen over night and if it does for more than a few days you will wish to God it didn't. One day you will have few errors, the next more, and the next more. 20 to 45 days later you will loose your ranking on the Big G.

Just letting everyone know that we are raising the price of the generator in about two weeks.
We are working with using some affiliate systems for promotion in which we will have to pay out around 3o to 40% in commissions.
Our new price structure should be around 50 to $60.
You have two weeks at the most before that goes into place. Sorry for the price increase but marketing and sales are important and we are laying the ground work for our new product hopefully to be released in three weeks or less.

WHAT ??????????? Are you paying a commission here ??
So you get the ENTIRE $30 for this sale here so there should be no increase since there is no commission being paid here.
You pay a commission for the sales in which you are using your affiliate program AND THAT is where the increase should be....Not here.
Please explain in more detail why the members here have anything to do with your affiliate program advertising or whatever.

This is the first script we have ever sold. Typically by trade I myself do SEO work and consulting. I wanted a script like this for a friends site, so together we bought one. We then realized it was garbage and so we went about making a real one. It took a long time actually, far longer than we expected.
I don't know how much time we have in it combined, but I would guess well over 250 hours. I have nothing to hide here on this forum, everyone has been very fair for sure and there isn't one of you in which I haven't really enjoyed working with.
But, 250 hours and 15 total sales (in the world) equals $1.80 per hour not including other costs like paypal and server expenses.
Don't get me wrong I'm no different than anybody else in this work 14 hours a day thing for peanuts on the Internet, but I have a family and the least I can do is try to pay the bills.
I believe that when selling a product you should sell it for one price. That way you don't have people angry with you for offering the same product at different prices and your resellers are protected. Am I wrong in thinking this? If I am I will retract what I posted here and on DP immediately.
I don't want to shoot myself in the foot for darn sure. I had a retail store (not Internet) for 20 years and when selling products I designed to resellers I gave them 100% price protection, and in some cases I kept my prices higher allowing them even more protection from angry customers.
Ladies and Gentlemen I'm new to this business and I'm all ears. If you have a better way let me know because I'm just Twas trying to make ends meet the best I know how.
I sincerely apologize if I have offended you. You have all been more than fair and your input, jokes, and comments have been the driving force for the new generator. ;)

Twas, that is understandable but what PGZ is getting at is your price increase is really just padding for the affiliate plan you are coming up with most likely. Meaning if you give an affiliate 50% of the sale and are selling them for $60 then you make the same $30. But since there is no affiliate here and you are selling directly there is no need for that padding.
Unless you're raising the price to $50-60 then adding more to cover affiliate shares? Or maybe a much smaller percentage as their share?
Keep in mind too though that the people here would most likely be some of your most useful affiliates as they are in this full time ;).

Can this be solved in the usual manner? Become an affiliate and buy from yourself?

January 26th, 2007, 03:37 PM
Darn,
I went a posted a big response to this current topic about affiliates and lost the whole post two days ago. I was so aggravated that I didn't even bother to reply again.
So, short version.
Have you bought something from Sony before? If you did you should of bought it from Walmart or a store similar. You can save up to 50% off buying the exact product not from Sony with the same warranty.
Sony stands behind their resellers and even tells you who they are to save you money.
If you bought this script from someone for $60 and found out you could buy it here from me for $30, you would be angry at the affiliate and the affiliate would be mad at me. I would rather let the affiliate sell everything and I get out of that picture. That way I can tell people about my affiliates on my site and not sell the product at all.
That is standard business in the world of retail sales of which I worked in for over 20 years. You don't under sell those that are selling for you.
Now that I got that out of my system, I'm going to give in because there is no doubt this is the greatest little forum I have ever been a member of. I truly think there are real people that have real lives and real ideas on this forum. I know, say what you want, but it is a fact. Have you ever went on a forum and seen someone get toasted like a marshmallow just because he didn't say something right. How about those people that have nothing better to do than flame people?
Please, tell me what you think of this.
This script will always be $30 for those that have been members of this forum for at least two weeks.
I'm stating that I'm doing this because you were my beginning. :beta1:
and I want to say thanks.
Though I may never sell another script is besides the point.
Thanks Myspacepros, moderators, members and all for your help and input.
PS Jazzylee77, like your idea and all those that choose to purchase here and give me their word that they will post a banner on their site as an affiliate will get an extra $10 off as long as the banner remains up for at least 60 days on the home page or the same page the generator script is located.

Just my humble opinion.
Sell your stuff however you like.Charge what you like. It's your stuff.
If I like it I will buy it (and I sure like your stuff so far).I don't care where ?% of the money goes.
If you had originally charged $60 for this gen I still would have bought it because I like it.
Your after sales service to me has been the best I've ever had and that means more to me than a few bucks.
I can't wait for your next one with all the bells and whistles.

Question... *raises hand*
Is it possible to make one that the user can select a color (which is not a glitter in itself, but it is still using a picture that has been edited and effects added to the color), and the a grey glitter border will be added (if the user selects it), and a transparent glitter fill will be applied to the entire image. Including the border? lol. Does that sounds confusing? haha

 I have no idea what your talking about actually. I will make my best guess though. Do you just want to make an outline around an object like a doll, and then add glitter to it?
Maybe you can post a url that shows the steps or finished product with the steps in mind.
Let me know or post a picture here with a step by step.
We can do almost anything with any image actually. But keeping the script simple is really important for the users sake. Otherwise they will never figure out how to do it.

1. It allows uploading of your own images for editing. (jpg and gifs)
2. It will have a library of art to choose from if you don't have your own picture. Things like cartoon and black and white clip art.
3. Once your picture is chosen or uploaded you will be able to choose two different colors in which you want to fill with glitter. You can set the color tolerance to help with filling all of what you want.
Example: A doll with blue jeans or a dress that is blue. Here dress might have 4 or more shades of blue and you might want to fill all with one glitter. So you will use the tolerance scale so that you fill the whole dress. Then you could select her blouse and make it another glitter color.
You can really make some interesting things with it based upon your creativity.
What I'm looking for is your input on what else you think it should have, ideas or questions. We can't make it to complicated. It will be a stand alone product or work directly with the text generator as a separate module though you won't be able to combine both glitter text and images into one image. It will be just an Icon that when selected will bring up the other script. Same interface...

The two products are separate and we are still selling the glitter generator for $30 at this time.
Our intention is to offer the new generator as a separate product.
We plan on using the same GUI kind of. In other words, if you have one it will be much easier to add the second one or visa versa. For lack of a better description the system will be modular allowing for both products to be run in the same environment.
Also, there will be no need to run tests on your server as in the past if you have the text generator already because the requirements are the same.
Pricing on the new generator. I don't know at this point actually. We thought about $90 in the first part of development, but now we have decided not to make it do so many things. I explained its basic usage in a previous post and it is kind of basic.
Kind of hard to tell right now. Probably somewhere between $50 and $70 but please don't take that as a guarantee yet.
I'm still looking for any good ideas anyone has on features or additions.
Thanks Maz

I'll try to explain... what he wants is something that looks like a normal glitter graphic made in photoshop, ie. http://www.myspace-lyts.com/glitters/words/random2/43.gif.
Basically the current generator but with a silver glitter fill used as a border around the text...you could have a border size option with this maybe? Example of a silver glitter fill (can't be used with this though, unless you got the permission of christina - this is just hosted on loves' site) http://www.cute-spot.com/glittergen/img/aa7.gif.
I suck at explainin but yeah thats what Matt was trying to get to.

And yes, I would like to have your business :stuart:
Yes, everyone I still sell the script and it includes a free installation into your site and typically a template page so as to match your theme.
To buy the script, here is what takes place.
You have two options before purchasing the glitter script. We do this to make sure your server is compatible before charging you for the script.
1. You can test it using this test script, though it takes a while to install and setup for some people.
http://www.m8d.net/trial/test.zip
Or (better option)
2. You supply us with ftp access where you want the script installed and we run the test for you.
After a successful test (when you actually see glitter text that glitters) then you can pay for the full script.
Again, you can install it or we install it for no installation fee, we do it for free.
We use PayPal for payment $30. After a successful test I can give you the account email address for payment.
Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

That was an interesting CSS template. The three column design was well done and even resized well with the changing of font sizes. I have always liked decent css based sites. Once you switch from tables to full css you never go back.

Hi,
It has been brought to my attention an issue with the code that my script makes is no longer compatible with Myspace.
Yes I can fix that without a problem. What do you think about making the third block of code compatible with Myspace?
Or maybe making the third block of code that you can modify from the controlz.ini file or a txt include file. That way you could put any kind of code in there you want.
Now the next question would be, who can show me the best example of html for displaying a picture on Myspace and still getting a backlink from it.
Thanks

After the recent change with Myspace pertaining to the use of div tags it was neccesary to modify the script.
Upgrade process:
1. There will be a $5 fee for this upgrade, because of the time needed to modify the script and recompile each and every customers individual package.
2. Each customer will be contacted by email with the option to upgrade with PayPal information. Upon reciept of payment I will put together a zip file and attach it to an email.
3. Upgrade will include a file in which you will unzip locally and upload the new files to the scripts working directory overwriting the existing ones.
4. You will have to modify the controlz.ini file to match your site. I would recomend that you look at your first one for a reference before doing so.
Upgrade Benefit
There will now be three external text files that you can modify to make any kind of code you want. By default they will include.
Box 1 - Basic Myspace image link.
Box 2 - Standard Forum code
Box 3 - Standard HTML Image link with text link.
Modification of any code boxes is very easy by the use of the external txt files, but modify at your own risk.
If you would like to see an example: m8d.net
PS Sorry for the fee but this envolves a lot of time.

To install update:
1. Unzip the file you received locally making sure to keep the directory structure in tact.
2. Modify the controlz.ini file to match your domain name, working directory on your server, link text, theme, etc. Do not put additional spaces in this file, you will damage it.
3. Upload all files to the directory where the glitter generator is installed overwriting the files that are there. If you want you could make backups of these files though it should not be needed.
4. Make sure you do successfully upload the "scobin" directory and the file it has within it also.
What does this do for you?

You know I did not realize it made the gif wider actually. I would like to take time to look into that but I just don't have the time right now.
I will make a note of it and try to get to it one of these days. I hate chancing breaking something that already works. Scripts are weird, one mod and then a week later you find out you actually broke it.
Thanks for the input though...
PS Maybe you might just want to put your own sig there.

Hi Mk,
I did give resale rights to SAWZ actually. He gets paid a percentage on each license he orders. All links and copyright stay in my name though.

I purhcased this glittergen, haven't integrated into the site yet - but for the price you can't beat it, and these guys did the install and did a crazy amount of support helping me for the $30. I never waited more than a few hours a response (unless it was evening) they always got back to me.
I haven't customize dor changed the backlinks or anythign yet on it-

I just replied to your request.
For the rest of you I just wanted to let you know that I recently did a small update to the generator allowing for it to be multilingual. You can now change any of the text to what you want.
thanks for all your support.

Yes the script works now for almost any language. Currently it has been used with so many different foreign fonts and languages that I can no longer keep count.
The test script is located at: m8d.net/trial/test.zip
Thanks

I'm building a myspace resource site and need assistance for selecting generators taking in mind users preferences, SEO, and server and bandwidth issues as I believe it will become a high traffic site. can you provide some consulting services for this matter?
please pm me your email to explore this.

Uhh yeah I've already been to that page. All it has is request form for the test script. No details about how to actually buy it.

Sure Ben, I will PM you in a few minutes. You are on the right track taking into consideration SEO, server, and bandwidth needs. I have been pretty fortunate with m8d.net actually. Now it's a PR4 and that is just from people using the script while looking at the site. Pretty lucky for me, considering that was not part of the plan.
