ADMIN DEMO:click here! (http://www.myspaceadons.com/quizgen/admin/)

What is it?
After my recent success with selling my last generator to you members at MyspacePros I've decided to make a generator built to perform on a MSRS site. It's not exclusive to MSRS but it hasn't been tested anywhere else and I don't plan on it.

What it does?
Quiz Gen makes it easy for users to not only take quizzes on your site and post them on their profiles or bulletins, but a quick and easy way to make their own quiz for friends to take. To add on to the ease is a sleek and fun design of each quiz with fun colors and style. You guys demanded even more functionality however so I teamed together with forum members and friends to compile a way for users to submit their quizzes to be displayed on your site.

Why do you want it?
Bulletin quizzes are taken millions of times a day by millions of Myspace users. With each quiz they post a link to your site is included on the bottom. They have the normal "WOW, this quiz is cool!" reaction and click on the link to get their own! Now not only does a user visit your site but they repost a quiz. When their friends take that quiz it spreads the quiz out via bulletin even further until that bulletin will never actually stop, you'll get a chain reaction link spreader.

Important Technical Mumbo Jumbo/ How It Works?
MSRS runs on a php server. So how do submissions work? There's a button in the flash Quiz Generator that send all the data in the quiz to your server, the server makes a .txt file in a "tempquizzes" folder waiting for your approval. At the end of the day you can go to the admin page which nothing links to, only you know the url. You can view a few quizzes and choose some you like. Log into your server and move those .txt files into the "quizzes" folder and now all users who visit your site can take those quizzes. It's as easy as that. If you don't feel like approving any you can just delete all the submitted quizzes. -also the complete package sits at an amazingly small 189KB!
You get to choose what quizzes go on your site!

Installation:
For installation you'll recieve a .zip file, after unzipping the file all you need to do is drag and drop "quizgen" onto the root directory for public html files. Then unload two files from a second folder to the "_inc" folder. DONE! that's it! Other directions for more personallization will be included

Purchase Info:
Right now you can take a hold of a 48 hour release price of $27. After the 48 hours the price will go back up to thirty dollars. Send payment to PAYPAL: click here. (vulcanstudios@gmail.com) Include with payment your sites url.
Each gen is hardcoded for your site so if you want to buy for more than one domain each domain after is $10 off. So three domains would be sixty dollars.
If you have questions I'll address them here or in PM, if you have complaints such as if you haven't recieved your order I'm very easy to deal with and help the customer as much as I can so don't litter the thread just send me a message.

Thanks,
VulcanStudios

Does it cause any strain on the server?

Once the quiz code is generated I noticed it is has a white background in the answers section, so the light text (blue and yellow for example) is almost impossible to read

vulcanstudios

@Fryman

The entire file including .php files and .swf files sits at 189KB so it doesn't put stress on the server as far as I can see at all. I had several members of the forums test it for me over and over. I myself submitted probably 100 quizzes to get it right and it generated the file instantly. Also I had my friend put in error failsafes so if there's anything wrong with the submission or if malice content is submitted the page gives you an error instead of a thanks message.

As for being hard to read I looked into highlighting the text with a black background but it didn't seem to work so I sat down and just stared at it for a while, put some thought into it, and decided that I've seen harder to read and people who post it probably won't look at it and complain and if they do they'll still post the bulletin. So for all the functionality I put behind it I finally decided it will have to do.

Thanks for the concern,
VulcanStudios

Nice.Is it possible to make it slightly narrower.It widens the profile page as seen on my test profile (wear dark glasses when viewing!)

You can change the pixel size in the embedd code. But right now at the size it is at it fits the max amount of allowed characters perfectly and it fits right in with an MSRS layout style. So unfortunately I'm going to say size sticks. It fits great in bulletins lol.

Sorry. I just try to neutralize the output as much as I can. So as many people are happy as I can get to.

Who cares if it fits the MSRS site "perfectly" if it messes up the profile?? That is what really matters

You need to be more open to suggestions of your potential customers.

It fits great in bulletins lol.
You can't send flash in buletins

@fryman

Hey fryman please it's ok for you to criticize that but just like I said in the end of my post please address it in a PM or email before letting it out on the thread, bad posts can turn people away. Also like I said it's not just the MSRS layout but the max amount of character's fit's perfectly with the width. If the width is decreased there's problems flash developer's have to think about such as if the user types in a bunch of stuff then erases it the text cursor (thing that blinks where your typin) is thrown off to the side. So like I said, I just try to benefit as many spots as I can without harming other spots.
The expansion of that section of his profile also has something to do with his layout style I believe.

Also flash does work in bulletins, this is a common misconception because when a bulletin with something embedded is replied to it is replaced with two dots because messages don't allow embedd but bulletins do. This has been tested by several people. I took input from a lot of MSRS members on what they would like in the final product and eventually there comes a time where you have to actually release the product. You might like vanilla but someone else is going to like chocolate. I try for vanilla with chocolate swirls but you can't always make everyone happy.

Just remember take things up with me and if I'm rude and impolite in PM then you can trash my thread. But please for buyers sake let's keep it clean.

@MKInfo
payment info is in post but I gladly PM'ed it to you as well.

You can't send flash in buletins

i was under the same mis conception.
it works.
and when the user send me a message about this that time the embedded content is replaced with two dots.
i have just checked that on a couple of my profiles with this generators.
and i must say i am happy with results for now.

I'm not trashing your thread, I am actually interested in this tool, what I don't understand is why don't you address the legitimate concerns of the people here instead of just saying "it stays, take it or leave it".

I took input from a lot of MSRS members on what they would like in the final product

Where? I can't find anything realated to this

I can live with the impossible to read text, but having the profile messed up is a problem.

You can change the pixel size in the embedd code
Yes, I can do that, but does the average myspace user know how to do it?

And no, this is not to be dealt via PM. Why do people always try to hide via PMs? I am asking my questions openly since I am a potential customer and have the right to.

@fryman

ok no more bickering between us, I'll give you the honest simple answer so we may both be content.

SOOOOOO..... I guess the answer to your question is NO, it can't be done without changing to much because php and flash are complicated things (insert extreme technical mumbo jumbo here), sorry, if there's anything else you'd like feel free to ask. I'll tell you if that's possible or not as well.

Will do thanks for the acknowledgement.

@PGZ

Thanks I'll get you the new directions later today.

@Primus

Thanks, I appreciate it, especially from another designer.

@Everyone who is ordered. Your files are ready but after a user ran into installation problems last night I'm revising the directions to include more clear instructions and problem solving for if you run into any difficulties. I'm also open for troubleshooting whenever just email me.

@MCX

Yep that was the thought behind the original generator, was to have the flash quiz re-embedd into the bulletin so user's could enter answers there without having to erase answers or anything complicated.

Then people demanded more functionality so I increased the output so you get a header with your title and multi colored questions in an organized list without having to do any work.

It's you guys that really made this quiz gen not me. haha

At the top of my main page there is a large link labeled

DEMO: with the link right after it, that will take you to a live demo of the entire thing.

@everyone who has purchased. I finished your generators and am making a quick install and handleing flash vid so you can actually see what your supposed to do. If you give me FTP access however it will be a MUCH quicker install. Under 5 minutes.

I've updated the quizgen file. So if you haven't recieved your file yet that would be the reason along with the directions. The new update allows for the user to take the quiz while still at the generator, then if they want to go back and edit their questions again they can do that. You'll see as soon as I have it up with the demo.

Thanks,
VulcanStudios

Ok you should get your orders within the next hour if you haven't already.

I've done an extreme update on the entire thing.

Now the user can type in their questions, and take the quiz all in the main generator. Another update that I know a lot of you wanted is the ability to take the quiz and paste the quiz into a bulletin without actually embedding the quiz file. So I made buttons for every site that replaces the quiz and when clicked will actually take you to your site and have that quiz on there. Just try it out on the DEMO. Try all the new functions. You'll like it.

All old purchasers get the update but I'm hoping this convinces more of you to buy now.

And a special thanks to nsmchris for helping with .php coding and ideas.

Thanks,
VulcanStudios

Everyone should have the brand new updated files and everyone who gave me FTP should have it up on their site. Just test it out and let me know if there's problems. I'd appreciate iTrader, but I can't give it to since I don't know which user each email belongs to. If you do, I'll gladly return the favor.

Nevermind, the user submitted quiz has a link to myspaceaddons.com when you generate the code, but the main quiz generator has the correct code. I just have to remake the random quiz I guess, I should've looked more carefully :hammer:

vulcanstudios
December 21st, 2006, 11:22 AM
Hey EHamilton,
The file is each hard coded to your domain for protection over theft, that way it will only work on your domain. Also I'm sorry I checked over what you said and I accidentally included a .txt file in everyone's quiz file that was submitted using blingpixie's gen. Therefore it put his link in there. Just delete that .txt file from the quizzes/quizzes/ folder and submit your own new ones for your users to take. The directions for submissions are all inside the .zip. Hope that helps. If you need more help I'll be online for a bit you can email me or PM me.

Thanks,

Great generator.My visitors love it and I am seeing more and more on profiles.
Just a small question.I am getting quite a few messages and comments on my Myspace profile which only contain a copy of the quiz I posted as a bulletin.Anyone else getting this or any explanation.This is by no means detremental to the quizgen as I love it and would recommend it to anyone.I'm just curious.

Thanks

May I take this opportunity to recommend a small piece of free software.

Damn Morgan its Christmas.....And no all you need isnt a download link cause he hardcodes each one that he sends out. He sends you the entire file when he is done coding it.

Some of you people truly amaze me. You of all people to complain. I paid you for a turnkey MySpace Script when I first started out and then paid you to install it. You took my money and loaded the script but it never worked and then you ignored my PMs....Nice huh ??

Vulcan isnt like you and you will get what you pay for I promise.

How do we change the link that appears under the quiz, "Get more Quizzes or make your own at MyspaceAdons.com!" and links to your site? Now I have to take the quiz down until I find out how.

I had emailed him a few weeks ago when I purchased this *just a day or so after he realeased it* asking how to change it to my site's name instead. He told me he would fix it, and I have yet to see it fixed. I went through the codes and tried finding where to change it - but no luck.

So, Vulcan, if you see this - PLEASE email me at jayzbaybiigyrl4lyfe@gmail.com so we can get this taken care of. Thank you.

I know this isn't your solution but have you tried http://www.rjlsoftware.com/software/utility/search/
It's free and you just point it at the folder and tell it what word/phrase to look for.
I always use it when I get new stuff as it tells you exactly which files the words you are looking for are in.
Or in the replace function you could have it search for hissite.com and replace it with yoursite.com automatically.
Very easy to use.Don't forget to back up first though. :)

@Precious
I looked through my email and don't seem to have an email regarding that problem I checked over you gen and I don't know if it's just Me being dumb or what but I can't find the problem. Hopefully it was figured out but if not you know how to contact me.

@Morgan I have your gen ready I was just unable to use internet since I had no power. So I made a little something extra for your site also while I still had laptop power. Hope it helps.
