So what does this mean? How can I avoid this?

I'm hosted at bluehost right now.

Do you think I should transfer to VPS? I have almost 14K unique hits/day.

What are the good but cheap VPS hosting company?

I use them too, and it happens to me ALL the time. It means you have an error somewhere in your script? It usually happens when I am uploading graphics... it really sucks I know. But lasts about 4 minutes tops.

Not that I have known of. Everytime this happens to me, I get a message saying CPU quota exceeded, or SUSPENDED...and it has a list of what causes it under that... Bluehost is an alright hosting company though. Again, I am not too sure about your hits causing it...because I only get like 300-500UV a day and it still happens to me.

i see.. well i guess its because of the script.. i'm just afraid they'll close my site because of this without any warning..

Yeah its the script.. I get that error as well and it has to do with running vbulletin.
I don't think they'll close the site over that, because the suspended page pops up everytime you go over the cpu limit.

Not sure what script you're using but you could search for a way to optimize it :)

Hey Angel, I was in the same boat once! PM me the URL and I'll take a look and help you out. 14k is quite a fair bit for a shared host, but dependong on the kind of site it is possible.

It means your site is eating up more than its allotted CPU usage. It's probably a CPU intensive script. Either tweak the script or get a new host.

At 14k a day you should easily be earning enough for a VPS server and I would recommend moving to one now rather then waiting for your site to be taken off line. Even with optimizing the script you'll probably only be able to squeeze a few thousand visitors a day more out of them before having to move hosts.

Try httpme.com

Bandwidth-wise they dont offer a heck of a lot, but I get better performance from their VPS accounts than I do from any of my dedicated server accounts.

i'm not really earning a lot 'cause my visitors were from Philippines. :(

Will they take off my site without notice?

No their not hostgator :)

You'll just keep getting the nag, but I think you have outgrown your hosting environment, you can only expect so much from a shared server ;)

Change to a VPS account. Some hosts will still nail you for this on a VPS account. I'd recommend httpme.com. I'm currently running 18k+ on a site there with craploads of ssi includes and 301 image redirects. Wouldn't get away with that on Bluehost or Hostgator but httpme just eats it up and doesn't bother anybody.

I know this is old and you have other issues, but I'm sensing some miscommunication here. You use the term "Unique Hits" Which is not likely a real stat, and people here reply as if you meant unique visitors.

I'm using Bluehost at the moment as well, and I used to see it all the time. If you're using .php extensions it tends to bog down the load time and cpu I guess. .html seems to be easier on the servers.

At 14K UV/day, I'm surprised that BH hasn't already pulled the plug on your site due to "excessive resource usage."

I suggest moving to a VPS or DFS as soon as you can.
