the simple clean route

i'm thinking of doing the simple clean look for my site compared to what it is now.

I get a lot of < 5sec visitors that land on the homepage.

whatcha think of something like this?

I think the title text is a little boring, maybe have a gradient to it? Or maybe to the rectangle behind it?

For the main logo/title...Not the best font for that sort of thing, The grunge texture on it that overflow don't seem to go well with a border/stroke.

I think you have the right idea going with a simple approach. i have been looking at my analytics for a few sites over the past week and have noticed that my sites that have a simple look yet still show what the site has to offer have lower bounce rates then sites with tons of stuff on the home page (even though load time is still quick)

Exactly- Rounded corners suggest a clean flowing look, but the grunge text, well- doesn't. lol

I think is pretty nice for a more simple approach, I think you should make the logo more of a Web 2.0-ish style and it'll look great :)

first thing i noticed when i saw the screenshot was that the logo doesn't match the site. Otherwise, I like the clean look.

Sorry, I suck too. Lol! I think the logo is actually decent. I would just make the template another color other then black. It is almost to dark I think. Just my opinion. Good luck! Btw...I think your header should be in the middle, and your ads should be vertical on the side. Just my opinion. But nice template. I wish I could design one like it! :)

It's actually not that bad, but i agree the font is a little "too much" .. it's not right for the header. You need a simple but fancy font :)

Add some gradients or some text styling, or some simple brushes to the blue header and the gray box. You have the right concept for simple though :D
