Uniques a day

I see ppl stating uniques a day from XXX to XX,XXX. Just wondering what ppl consider a unique.

1. Unique visitor hit on any content on your site.
or
2. Actual unique visitor to a page on your site.


I would expect 2 to be the correct answer, but just wondering.

#2 is correct in my case.

I only count number 2. Number 1 is of no interest to anyone because someone viewing anything from an invisible pixel to a wallpaper would count as a hit, which is absolutely meaningless.

I completely agree with you two. It just seems like when some ppl throw their numbers around they are talking about #1.

#1 what you say will be no of hits, which is yes - meaningless.

#2 is uniques and

#3 can be page views, which is the avg no of pages 'a unique' visits.

2 & 3 will be important. Better the website, 3 will be higher.
