I've been trying decide on the best hosting plan for over 2 weeks now and i decided its time for me to get opinions.
So far the ones i remember looking at were
Surpasshosting
Dreamhost (ick i have them now and i dont like them)
Godaddy (heard some bad things but they sound good to me...thoughts?)
Globat
And then there were a few others, but i can't remember.
I need people's opinions on the BEST one, and some feedback on the one they may currently have. I'm not talking about dedicated and am not considering it for awhile.
Any thoughts?

What are your requirements? I've used hostgator for sites that arent pulling a ton of traffic and bluehost for sites that have up to 15k daily.

4ph.com is by far the best hosting I have ever had.
No doubt you can find cheaper, bu their support is insane.

I have been very happy with hytekhosting.com's reseller plans. They start out decent and will work with you as your bandwidth and space needs grow. They have helped me fix a lot of silly little issues with various scripts I have installed even though they shouldn't have given support for them which is something I wouldn't think you could get from the bigger "corporate" type host.
The only downsides I have seen is it can also take them longer to get back to support tickets than a bigger host might. And prices may be a bit more than what some of the huge guys can offer.

all the ones listed are garbage. i have vps hosting from powervps.com which is basically a fraction of a dedicated server with resources dedicated to my portion.

I have Surpass Hosting reseller.
Godaddy absolutely SUCKS. No sugarcoating whatsoever.
The others, I've never used.
Surpass has always has very good support and I've never had downtime other than things I had done like transfering domain registrars, etc.

I didnt like Godaddy either. My sites were always extremely slow or didnt work at all.
I'm surprised you dont like dreamhost, I have a hosting plan with them for all my hostees and never had any problems, so my vote would definitely go to them.
It seems like alot of people use Surpass but I can't say anything about them as I never used them.
My bigger sites are all on dedicated servers with ThePlanet and Ev1Servers.

I have had no problems with them so far...and the only support I put in was resolved within 1 hour.My site is getting a lot more popular now so I'm in the process of moving to a VPS with Prohosters.

I know of at least 2 people that use dreamhost (me not included), one of them has like 50+ hostees on there (Jade from Kville if you know her @ Selena), I'm not sure how much traffic her hostees get, but as far as I know she never had any problems either.

Tab, I know of people who have been hosted by Jade from CBD, and they had a LOT of Downtime problems, because of issues with the DreamHost servers, lol.
I think they are a LOT better now than they used to be though, Dreamhost's biggest weakness is downtime, and its publicly known, so I guess they are putting that at the top of thier to do list...

DreamHost is only good if you have small sites that get almost no traffic. If you own a resource site you need to stay away from them cause they will cut you off quick.

well i'm screwed then. i've got my entire site almost setup and am not in any mood to switch to a different hosting provider.
it'd seem pretty stupid of me to move now to something dedicated when i'm not even sure the site will be big.
dreamhost shouldn't put that they offer 1000GB bandwith if they expect to cut people off after using it.

I've never used DreamHost because of the signup fee that I could avoid by going to a different host.

They are so extremely cheap for what they offer, as far as I've found they've been the best deal i've found. But I guess i haven't used them to their full capability which is why they haven't cut me off yet. None of my sites hosted on there got more than 100 uniques a day yet, and that was before i got rid of the site that did.
I 'expect' my sites to do quite well and bring in a couple thousand uniques a day, but i don't want that to happen, and then my site go down because i'm doing well.

GoDaddy is about, I can assure you, the worste host ever. We first had MyCuteSpace hosted by them and at first it was okay but when we started going over 15k+ hits, the server just completely collapsed & wouldn't show the site up anymore.
We were supposed to have 1TB bandwidth, we don't even host images on there, so I dunno what the eff happened. >.< We could have done so much better if our site was up 99.9% of the day, but noooooo.. LOL
So eventually on the later part of this year we moved to DreamHost which is being good to us so far.
Although, if I were to choose, I'd get hosted by Lunar Pages. They are the only site that has consistent reviews all over the web, & they offer great packages if you'd think your site was worth it. I can't say much coz I've never been hosted by them really, but if I were to get hosted, I'd defo pick them. :)

GoDaddy I would not recommend. Neither would I go with Dreamhost. In the hosting industry there is something called "overselling". Basically it means what it says. Your advertising more space/bw then you actually sell. Almost all hosting companies do this and there is nothing wrong with this if you do it right. Some of the hosts put out ridiculous amounts where by the time you even remotely reach those diskspace or bandwidth allotment your account would have been suspended for excessive resource usage already.
That being said also I noticed the recommendation for Lunar Pages above. The reason they have consistent reviews all over the web and you see them always ranked in the "top 10 hosts" on those review sites is that to blatantly put it, they pay for those rankings. If you start to look around you'll notice the same names over and over again and thats mainly the reason why.
My personal recommendation is http://hostingzoom.com
I have been with them for over 3 years I believe or more and their service has still been more than stellar for me. The CEO of the company is great and is a respectable guy running a great company over there.
If you want to read more reviews on the company just go to http://webhostingtalk.com and you will see a few of my reviews under this same username as well as many others praising the company.
If you do decide to go with them, I'd appreciate it if you go through my affiliate link. :) Just PM me and I can give you the link.
Hope that helps. Giving my 2 cents on my knowledge of the hosting industry.

Oh really, I didnt know that.
I just assumed it was doing quite well seeing as keeps adding more hostees to it lol
Currently I only have like 6 or so hostees on dreamhost, all of them with very low traffic so I guess that explains why I never had any probs.

I'm in the process of changing my host to Prohosters bronze plan on a VPS.
http://prohosters.com/plans.shtml
Hopefully will have changed over within the next week so will let you know how it goes. You only have to pay by the month so if its no good I will switch back to Dreamhost where I am now.I am current getting 25,000 page views/day and rising fast and thats without the images being served to my users! Currently no problems with Dreamhost but I have read that they can just close your site without warning when it becomes too much which is the reason I'm moving.

Yea it's not surp**** it's my visitor base killing my bandwith. I have to upgrade the server wich is gonna cost me an extra 100 a month but I have no choice.
Sorry for the downtime BTW, trust me they are giving me a free month for not fixing the issue when i first contacted them about it.

I used Dreamhost when I first launched my resource site. Dreamhost is decent for a small website-- The control panel is nice and their support is responsive, but they like to overload their servers with too many people (obviously to cut corners due to the overselling of their package plans). Of course, because it was shared hosting, it would be only temporary. For sites that utilize alot of bandwidth and graphics, shared hosting isn't always the best choice because you are placed on a server with hundreds of other people. Because of that, bandwidth usage tends to get clogged at peak times.
I recommend for sites that get at least 60k/traffic a day to upgrade to VPS or dedicated hosting. Do a search on Webhostingtalk and make sure to do your homework and research before selecting a good hosting company. I've been burnt out quite a few times (lost a couple hundred too) due to incompetent support and slow networks.

I would recommend www.siteground.com. This is because they offer you 40 GB space and 900 GB traffic and a free domain. That is what I have been using with my old bigger sites that I sold off a while ago and they never slowed down, I havent had any problems with their support (which i use alot) and the people are nice. All for only about 8 or 9 bucks a month. Yes they are a shared hosting provider

Really, none right now because I havent finished designing my resource site. But with my last big site about 17k they never gave me a problem about my size, or bandwith.

60K a day and on shared hosting ????
You would get cut loose at 30K by any shared hosting plan.....
If you try to wait it out till you get 60K to move your committing suicide.
Change to VPS once you start getting 10K on a Resource site.

whatever you do I wouldnt recommend Go Daddy. I had hosting through them once and everything is slow. Also I think this might just be me but I like hosters that come with a CPanel, it comes with all kinds of features and will easily show you your website statistics. For some reason it is just easier and seems better to me than all the rest of the Control Panels.

Here's a quick guide to those looking for reviews on shared hosting providers:
1.) http://www.webhostingtalk.com
and
2.) http://www.webhostingunleashed.com
As a rule of thumb, I now try to avoid hosts that make it a point to oversell. Meaning, for like $5/month, they offer you a million gb's of bandwidth and a load of storage space. There's no profitable way of doing this, and it's a marketing ploy-- So I avoid hosts that try to lure their customers into these marketing traps.

Not the bandwidth but they said I was using all of the servers resouces.
I am now with prohosters VPS.After a few teething probs I have no issues with them at all and their live help is second to none.
In fact I am just going to purchace another package to start off my MSLS.
