Dumbass: Hello Tiffany.
Dumbass: Welcome to HP Total Care for Pavilion Notebooks. My name is Dumb**** your support technician. How may I help you today?
Tiffeh: hi Dumbass how are you?
Tiffeh: My laptops kind of messed up and Id like to mail it in
Dumbass: I am fine Thank you..
Tiffeh: Some of the USB ports were malfunctioning, working then not working
Dumbass: May I know the exact issue with the Notebook?
Tiffeh: And then I tried to turn it on yesterday after A restart
Tiffeh: And it said UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Tiffeh: I went into the BIOS and did a diagnostic on the HDD and it failed, so Im pretty bummed
Dumbass: To assist you better, please let me know the following information: Model Number: Product Number: Serial Number: The Model, Product and Serial number is located on a white sticker, called the Service Tag, underneath the Notebook.
Tiffeh: Its a pavilion DV9010CA
Tiffeh: Its got a year state warranty
Tiffeh: Ill grab the serial and pn
Tiffeh: *Gives them*
Dumbass: Thank you for the information.
Dumbass: May i know the country of purchase fo the Notebook?
Tiffeh: Canada, but its under state warranty
Dumbass: As we are dedicated to Us pavillian Notebook support, I recommend you to contact Canada support for mail-in repair :

Tiffeh: And Ill be there for a few weeks
Tiffeh: So thats why I contacted you
Tiffeh: And I have a USA warranty on my notebook :) not canadian
Dumbass: As you have purchased the Notebook of canada model, it will not have Us warranty.
Tiffeh: I purchased the US warranty yesterday
Tiffeh: Phone support told me to specifically state to the next technician I spoke to that I had a US warranty
Dumbass: Is it alright if I place you on hold on five minutes while I look for the relevant information?
Tiffeh: yep
Dumbass: You have contacted last time and Alexis explained you and gave you the phone number to contact Canada support. AM I right?
Tiffeh: Can I mail it in?
Tiffeh: Yes, and I contacted them, and they gave me a US warranty
Tiffeh: Yes and I contacted them, and purchased a USA warranty
Dumbass: Canada support will not sell the Us warranty.
Tiffeh: They did, though. Canadian warranty was 230$
Dumbass: Warranty purchased for the Notebook will be valid in the country of purchase of the Notebook.
Tiffeh:: They had to set me up with a US warranty. And they did. 149$
Tiffeh: I've given you the warranty case number

Phone support.. they're all the same.
I once called in Microsoft because I lost my computers serial number, they just seem to give everybody that calls in a serial number without asking for further info :S a person with an illegal copy would be able to get a serial in no time.

I also once called in my cable company.. I lost the disk to reinstall the whole thing and they asked me whether my neighbors also had their internet.. and I was like "maybe" then they told me to borrow the damn disk from them.

Why don't you try calling in again and ask if you could speak to someone else? Maybe there's still a sane person working at HP.

Why not call Canada support and mail it in to them? You probably won't get the laptop back for another couple weeks.

Also, it's your boyfriend who destroyed the laptop, so technically it's not covered by warranty.

Yeah geg, the USB ports werent working before he threw it. My friends dropped his laptop on its head to a hard floor and not a damn thing happened to it. But mine gets tossed on a cushion and breaks? WTF :x Seriously. A CUSHION.

Anyway, yeah it is covered by warranty, since its accidental. Canadas mailing system is absolutely horrid, so I'd rather have the US look at it :\ I'm gonna have to get CA to anyway though.. *Cries*
