Ok i visit a lot op myspace websites lately, but damn a lot of popups in the ms website world.
A lot of people still dont have pop blockers.
When i come on a site with a lot of those popups i don't want to turn back.
"You never get a 2nd second chance for a first impression'' am i wright?
I feel like it's a suicide for your website.
I never met someone that like a popup.
What is your opinion on this?

I personally hate popups so much thats why i refuse to use it on my MS website..

Sure, mabye i would make much more cash today.. but if im looking a bit longer then that.. its not user friendly at all and i think i will loose alot "regular" users.

I visited a MSRS site today with popups. Couldn't tell you where as I didn't stay but about 1 second.

but pop ups are worth twice the cpm as banners. so it can make alot of extra cash if you slap an exit popup on your site. but to put popups on every page is stupid. the only thing pop ups are good for is if you stick them on a page that someone is tricked into going to (remember the myspace tracker bulletin fad?) ppl made some cash on that one!

I went against all my beliefs and inserted pop-unders, 1 per day for visitors. Added maybe 1/3 to my income.

I'd never add pop-ups though, only 1 pop-under and never one that popped under on everypage.

i am not clear on this.
what kind of revenue does one get on 1k uniques and say 10k adsense impressions?

i have always imagined that the revenue is small.
need some more clarity on this.

Valueclick (http://admin.valueclickmedia.com/re.f?29933) is who I use, I'm sure for pop-unders they are regarded as the best.

I am currently getting about $4.20cpm. I filter out the very poor paying ads, but that still leaves me with more than enough to give a virtually 100% fill rate.

So if you get 5k per day uniques (pop-up blockers do not block these) then you can expect to make around an extra $20 per day. That's quite a bit extra, and pop-unders in my opinion aren't any hassle to visitors, especially as it's only 1 per day.

I've gotten turned down twice now when them and haven't found a good CPM to use yet.

Yes, I already had an account. I had to get my MySpace site approved though before ads would display on the new domain.

Only popups/popunders I'm against are full page ones, really annoying when you browse windowed yourself.

Also the constant problem with "errorsafe" ads that not even the top CPM networks can fully get rid off as lame advertisers stick them in under different names and they can run for a day before detected and removed from rotation.

On my myspace site now I use Valueclick popunders on the main site. I also use CPX ones that pop every few minutes on image gallery pages only.

Yeah.. I hate errorsafe so much..

And giving the visitors spyware like this is sooo lame even if it makes you some extra bucks.. not worth it IMO.

PayPopUp or a company similar, I forget the name delivers some spyware etc etc in ads, Valueclick media does not. I've not heard of a single case of this.

Errorsafe does appear in Valueclick too. Sometimes you can turn it off because it's listed as "Errorsafe" in the campaigns list, but sometimes it's some dishonest advertiser putting in it under a different name. It's rare with Valueclick but still happens.

I have "better quality" sites that I could use to apply with but don't get anything near the others lol. Of all the CPM networks I have seen they are the ones I like most. They just don't like me much yet lol.

My myspace site originally only got accepted to run popunders, and I think that if I didn't already have an account with other websites there they would not have accepted it at all.

After the myspace site got redesigned with a completely unique look they accepted it for banners and everything too, though they complained about some glitter graphics being drug related (said "dope" on them).

Honestly I find pop-unders okay. Like one or two per visit - but every page unless it is a huge & popular site.. I mean, you'd want to keep visitors right?

I find the spyware stuff really annoying, and I really dont think I'd go back to a site if it had it in advertisements of any kind.
