Instead of kicking me off like they do with everyone else, they investigated the problem, firewalled the problem, and told me what file to fix. I was relieved, since I know a lot of people here have been screwed over by DreamHost.

My shoutbox was using too much resources, and some bad IPs, not sure what they were doing.

dreamhost definitely do suck, and I have heard a lot of bad things about them...good to hear a good thing come out of them!

This is different.. Usually people never bother to tell anyone about good things and always tell people or post about the bad.
Maybe this can turn the venting thread into the cooling thread.

When I had dreamhost, they were always very good about things. If they were too busy, theyd have you hire someone else to look at the problem, but if not, they'd help you out. They're always fast with responses.. well.. 90% of the time. I like em. i dunno why people say they suck so bad. Surpass sucks.

i've had good experiences at dreamhost. always answered my questions promptly and helped me move to a server with a lighter load when they found that the images I was hosting were causing a lot of issues to the server it was on. the only bad thing was the 2 instances where they had major downtime last year.

My website in dreamhost is down often, and that make me soooo mad everytime. Hostgator is working perfect, infact I think Ill move the one in dreamhost with the other in hostgator

I was thinking about hostgator too. Do they have a limit on the size of the sql file that can be uploaded? Mine is pretty huge.

Dreamhost is horrible. Their control panel is easy to use but wow they suck. Downtime is frequent and that's not good.

I remember Dreamhost used to post a live view of their discussion forum on the homepage. For a long time the first thread showing had the title: Is Dreamhost the worst host ever? So every first time visitor to the site would see that right away.

I havn't ever had any troubles with dreamhost... It's a bit annoying that they just don't use cpanel instead of there strange interpretation of a control panel- but you get used to it.

I'm about to get one of their private servers. Hopefully the downtime is much less.

Dreamhost, I've heard too many bad things about them to get a reply.
I HATE Surpass. MY first couple of domains with them, everything was fine. I would get fast responses and they were really nice.
Then, it started taking them a week to answer my response, or sometimes, I wouldn't get ANY response. When I did get a slow response by a certain FEMALE, she would respond very rude.
It wasn't until I needed help with another domain that I had on their server (a problem they obviously didn't know how to fix), that they tried to say I had an overdue bill with my other account that I DID NOT renew to begin with.
It was as though they were trying to change the subject and say "Oh, we just noticed that you have an overdue bill on your account that you haven't paid for in six months." Mind you, when my domain and hosting expired for that particular account, I was notified, but I NEVER renewed it for the following year. So it means if you don't renew it, you're agreeing to release the domain and hosting, am I right? Therefore, it's no longer in your ownership. Therefore, one shouldn't be charged for something that they no longer own. But whatever. I also found it odd that I had never gotten any emails that WHOLE six months about not paying a bill. It seems to me that a company would at least notify you.
They tried to say that they would reduce my bill so that I would only have to pay a certain amount. And it's like "HELLO? I shouldn't have to pay ANYTHING."
I looked them up on a review website a while back and another customer was complaining about the very same thing. Odd.
