Has anyone here used MSCMS?
www.mscms.com
im looking into it mainly for the backend admin panel, but if anyone can shed light onto how user-friendly, customizable, or just generally how good it is, i'd greatly appreciate the input.

I don't want to just buy it not knowing how good it is.

Theres at least one person here who has used it. Can't remember the thread, their opinion or who it was though.

if you dont mind me asking...is it easy to customize it to another template?
i honestly don't like the template on there and i just want the admin panel that comes with it. i really coudnt give a care about the content, or the template, or pretty much any of it except the admin panel.

I saw the MSCMS script for sale on Ebay - it seems to have quite a few functions. I suppose you could always send a message to the seller for more information.

I have always been impressed with how much content and how many features he has grouped in there. The backend is also very clean and easy to use. There was supposed to be a huge update sometime soon as well with some cool ajax features and such.

But as PGZ said, CTR flat out sucks with them. Of course I still have mine pretty much default so part of it is probably my fault but if you think you can outsmart the CTR problem, it's a great script for the price.

As for customizing it, not real sure but I don't think it would be any harder than any of the other scripts out. There are a couple skins already available so I assume you could use those to model a new one off of.

Hiyya!

I also had a look at this script. Just seemed a bit boring to me:)

I've just started making a resource site (never made one before)

I've used http://www.scriptalicious.com/en/MySpace-Script

I'ts the old turnkey script which has been cleaned up a bit. (still horible in places though).

But it installed ok...and changing it is quite good fun.

I use mscms (v1.5 is here!! woohoo!!)

ya i like it, it's a really good script for the money it costs. Support is good, but I am not a huge fan of the template/layout of pages. If you look at my hellagraphics site you can see that the script template is somewhat customizable but it's tricky finding out where everything is and how to change things. if your a skilled coder then you should be ok but if you don't know your html and css then your gonna have problems. I've been coding for years and it was still difficult for me to even change what I did.

the updated version just came out, havn't checked it all out yet, the ajax facelift is nice, there is games and video codes now and it looks like the template problem MAY have been fixed.

other than that the blog style updates module says you can use full html but you can't really just type out code in the text box so It's not really full html just the same old code inserts like a forum has.

but ya i bought the script hoping i could just revamp the whole thing with a nice photoshop sliced layout but it didn't happen :) (don't think its possible unless your a coding guru)

Most imporant factor (by far) is getting traffic. If you can't get traffic you wont make much money even with a great CTR.

the script looks very nice. there is no way in hell I could code my own that looks 1/10 as good. I love the colors though .

Ok, using MSCMS at the moment.

In all honestly, I'm not a big fan at ALL.

From a managemnt point of view Greg-J's script is like 200000x better.

Gregs may be better but the back end of this is truly amazing.

Gregs may be better but the back end of this is truly amazing.agreed. For the price, mscms comes default with a ton of featured and content to get you started. But, at least with the old template, you really need to do something with the content as the CTR is terrible at default. I haven't had time to try the newest version/theme so no idea if that has been changed or not but it looks better at least.

I disagree. Yes a backend is good, but I don't like this system.

Installing new content into MSRS, if you have the right structure, is just upload and go. Alternatively, pasting layouts into MSCMS is a boring and time consuming, edit, copy, and paste process.

Installing new content into MSRS, if you have the right structure, is just upload and go. Alternatively, pasting layouts into MSCMS is a boring and time consuming, edit, copy, and paste process.Yeah that is true. But then again you have to make sure the content is already converted for MSRS otherwise you would have just as much work to convert layouts yourself ;).

I assume if mscms had people making content packs with dbs and such it would be possible to just to easy uploads/installs as well.

Although it comes with a ton of content (most seems to be the common stuff you see everywhere), what I like most is how it comes with most of the better "common" generators default. So, for example, you don't have to go out and buy an LED text generator since it already comes with it.

But as I mentioned, it sucks at making money...so far. I actually make more from that really crappy free turnkey script lol. Still need to try out the newest version though and hoping that has changed with the new layout.
