I push 10k on a baby package at hostgator. I host all images on photobucket (even template images for the actual website)

Have you tried that?

Edit, optimise your SQL connections in your scripts try to get them as clean and efficient as possible. Also you could even host you SQL off site.

That's the problem of shared hosting, they can suspend any site at anytime without giving warnings. 10k is a lot on shared hosting and you might want to consider VPS. I'm currently using futurehosting.biz and have positive experience with them, they have managed plan available. Also check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com/forumdisplay.php?f=104 for VPS offer. Also you can ask hostmonster staff to disable awstats or webstats cause they can cause high load on server.

for 10k a day you could go with a dedicated if your site makes enough to justify the cost or you could easily push that amount of traffic on a VPS.

10k you should be able to afford a dedicated. I highly recommend Softlayer.

Had the same problem. I switched to a dedicated server + outsourcing images to photobucket!

3000 connections sound alot to me! maybe clean up your codes and make sure your closing your connections after using them.
