Quite an interesting article

MySpace layouts is now the world’s 9th most popular search term, according to the latest data coming out of Hitwise.

Annoying condecending website. Designed to make us normal non web 2.0 people feel stooopid. Everyting that I hate about the internet can be summed up in that single website.

Asside from that...

The term 'myspace layouts' may get lots of hits but monitising it is difficult because yahoo ads don't target too well and adsense pays 2 cents click.

If you rank on the top 5 the traffic is proably enough to make xxx a day but I know on the bottom the traffic isn't enough to break tripple digits. Usually mid-lower double digits.

When yahoo publisher allowed pictures by ads you could probaby make far far more since webmasters were putting pictures next to mortgage & credit card ads.

It all depends on what you know... I consider myself a traffic guru. Give me a site, any site that gets tons of traffic and I will turn it into a goldmine

There are loads of things you can do with a site. Adsense is the tip of the iceberg

Hmmmm.....where do you get your info cause I KNOW there are people on this site that get $xxxx.xx daily and once even was $150 shy of $xx,xxx.xx in a day and they are not ranked in the top 50 in any SE.

As fryman said its what you know and how you work things. You dont have to be in top anything to get traffic and Im not talking about using MySpace at all.

And about the images you are wrong on that aspect also.....My Rev per day has skyrocketed since I was asked to remove the images that had been there since day 1 and even had emails saying it was ok but because of the TOS change I removed them and its the best thing that has ever happened.

Um hum um um um we are talking about traffic for the keyword 'myspace layouts' ; not traffic in general.

Also, I am assuming you are refering to adwords Mr. Mysterious.

Tell us more about these so called sites...

As fryman said its what you know and how you work things. You dont have to be in top anything to get traffic and Im not talking about using MySpace at all.

Im sure your talking about adwords and buying links. Off topic though.

You are probably the exception. This is the first time I have ever seen this. But your argument is faulty in that you try to pass your single observation off as a fact.

Since we know it is you who posted, why put your user name? Does that give your post more authority or something?

Drew, please dont flame.

I am simply presenting an opposing viewpoint

A difference of opinion does not include having a go because someone signs their post.

I could easily find many instances of you dropping random comments in a thread that are not related to what is being said.

PGZ posts one message that you consider to be not related to the topic and you start on him.

The post is on topic, You don't need to be in the top 10 to get x,xxx or even xx,xxx a day from a MySpace site.

Personally I rank quite badly for "myspace layouts", and while the extra SE traffic would be welcome it doesn't bother me greatly, they are competitive terms and I have found a couple of niches that are bringing nice traffic and that I rank #1 for.

Very interesting point.

Maybe it is listed differently from the basic top 10 sites as they come in search ranks. Or maybe, just maybe some got written into that article with the help of a bit of money changing hands.

Ted Hat look around and you will see I sign ALL my posts. In my eyes its being professional because would you send out a letter without signing it because it had letterhead on it already ??

What you said is basically that people that rank in the top10 for MySpace Layouts dont get MORE THAN xxx for it which I see as wrong.

If someone that not ranked can make xxxx per day can you imagine what that would be if they were ranked in the top 10.

There are others here that also removed the images and the Rev they earned went up and if you look you will find this all over the net by people that have been told to remove them.

You come in here and claim to make all this big money and then make a statement like what you did above and it really makes me wonder how that is possible.

I have been in this game awhile now and I sorta know what works and what doesnt and being ranked in the Top 10 for MySpace Layouts would bring far far far more then xxx as you claim.

Again here is my name like on every other post you will find in these forums.

Haha, funny side topic.

I've always wondered why people sign a forum post, I do it on sitepoint (I don't know why only that forum), but only in my first topic starting post, not every follow-up reply.

I don't agree it's like not signing a letter. A letter isn't a conversation in the same way as a forum is. A forum is more like a voice conversation. You don't say your name at the end of every sentence you say when speaking to someone do you? That would be annoying and quite weird! I'd have to terminate the conversation.

How come you don't put it in your forum signature, as if you are using it as your signature, it seems that would be the most fitting place for it, plus it would be automatic then.

Kind Regards,
David

I was speaking more in general rather than just you, I do it too. Just seemed like something I'd often thought when I'd seen it on forums, but never started a discussion on it cause it's a minimal thing.

actually, sites even on page 3-4 are doing mid $XXX/day. the page 1 guys using YPN are doing $XXXX.

the difference between adsense and ypn is huge. myspacesupport is down to $XXX/day with adsense... or so he says.

Movieboy, get your facts right. Running some calculations shows that the bottom 5-10 spots for the keyword give only xx a day with adsense. Thats cause adsense pays so little 4 that keyword. 2 cents a click. As I said before with yahoo you can make more but your account may be terminated though.

Alex I see you have a myspace site that generates yahoo revenue. A tidy sum. I hope you have a backup if your account gets canned. Not to be a **** but yahoo is terminating acounts on myspace sites.

Calculations? How about cold hard facts.....

I am not on page 1,2, or 3 for "myspace layouts" and I easily make $xxx a day.

You do NOT need to be ranked highly to earn a decent living.

You really have no idea what your talking about.

Drew, you should not only go to church but also stop bending my words.

I never said you have to rank on the top page of 'myspace layouts' to make a lot of money with a resource site. I was refuting Alex's claim that you can make $xxx a day with the keyword on page 3.

We can all agree that there is plenty of moeny to be made with myspace without good rankings.

i know the owners of those sites and i know what they're making. YPN blocked 2 myspace sites from showing YPN ads because lots of people reported them, but the owners didn't lose their accounts. look like YOU need to get your facts straight. plus i've got 2 backup accounts in case somebody jealous wants to report me.

Why should I go to church?

http://www.morbid.demon.co.uk/lucifer-en.jpg

So your saying that if I make it to page 3 for "myspace layouts" that my income will drop? Do you really think that I am making more than everyone on page 3? I do very little advertising, my budget for advertising is only a couple of hundred a month at present.

Anyone one page 3 will be getting traffic from Google that I don't get, and traffic from backlinks, myspace profiles, etc. They should be easily in the high xxx, if not xxxx.

I know at least on person who is on page 3, and they are making xxxx a day.

Your refuting Alex's claim, which means your saying people on page 3 don't make $xxx a day, so that means if I get on page 3 I won't make $xxx a day anymore.

Thats pretty simple logic, very wrong, but simple to understand.

You get singled out because your abrasive, brag about how much money you make, think you know it all, and go around generally being a pain in the backside.

If you participated in the community and actually contributed something useful then people would treat you better.

Whats that christian saying, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you"

Maybe because you are the one spamming the hell out of your crappy fake profiles and acting like if you were proud of it
